The way he hugs himself!! đ
Alex mixing it up with sadness instead of his screaming rage.
And he REALLY milked it for that show. The crowd responding very sympathetic for the character (hearing the "awwws".....and there was a LOT lol)
Ale Borghi on netflix italia saying that his favourite scene in Suburra was the mud scene where âSpadino and Ale say very romantic things because theyâre in loveâ. Excuse meâ
character study: alberto ÂŤspadinoÂť anacleti
so, Spadino is very complicated person, who is full of contrasts and controversies. let's discover what is wrong with him! (or what is right...)
Ă he has been a criminal since the age of five, maybe, cause he said that by this time he has already been able to fake the bills;
⢠he grew up in such kind of family where you can do only "family business" and nothing else. also the gypsy way of life often includes small or big crimes (don't get me wrong, I'm talking not about all nation);
Ă he is a killer.
⢠as we could see in episode 1 season 1 he didn't want "to get his hands dirty", but his brother literally made him to by killing a sheep as a traditional ritual. I know that it's not the same thing as killing a person, but still thought-provoking.
he is not coldblooded maniac, who will slice people just for fun (but!).
I think that he killed about 10 (or less) people during all 3 season, but I can be wrong, and did it in much more less brutal way that Aurelia or Samurai, but it doesn't matter now. he *got used to* solve his problems like that and I would like to say that mostly people he killed were even worse than him. I don't remember his lover's name, unfortunately, but *that* scene has shown us that he is definitely not a monster and has so much feelings, regrets, doubts etc, that he couldn't sleep the nights (I don't think that it was just because of Lele's death).
Ă he is a sadist.
⢠returning to that "but", all of fans could remember his strange giggle when someone was suffering (like Chinaglia or these guys who attacked Nadia and Angelica or even that priest from season 1) and his face was full of joy. or, maybe, that *cruel* joy when you become content when someone who did something bad to you received it in response.
I don't know exactly but something makes me feel that yes, he has such kind of proclivities, but they are not too expressed.
maybe he just converts self-hatred into this rage and wants people to suffer as much as he does.
Ă he is ruthless. yes, it's better not to be his enemy, because he would use a gun or knife against you.
⢠he still has a soul, because he couldn't kill Aureliano (actually twice or more) when all his family wanted to revenge or he couldn't kill his own brother just based on that nasty things that Manfredi did. he only could kill his brother after he lost his heart because of family that hated him so much that wanted to get rid of Spadino in such a cruel way, than just banish him. they *wouldn't let him be free* anyway, so they would prefer dead Spadi than stubborn, powerful gay man in their society.
Ă he is an egoist. of course, he doesn't want to please his mother or brother. or wife that he has never wanted to marry.
⢠in some cases it's true, but... again and again this "but", ugh! he would definitely die to save people that he love and he cares so much about them.
Angelica was an outsider and it would be much more easier to continue ignore her or hate, or something else, but finally he tried get to know her better. and there was such a strong connection between them, what people could call "storge" (family love) or "philia" (friend bond). for Aurelia it was "agape" for sure. he would die, he would kill anyone, he would do something else for Adami, and what is it, if not a strong, sincere love?
Spadino is not an angel or a saint. He is a human, as we all are. So what is so remarkable about this character?
â He stayed a human being after all troubles and bad situations. Yes, he has blood on his hands, but he could not do otherwise because of his upbringing.
And there is a contradiction again!
â He became better person than his mother, brother, cousins and others, on his own. Spadino created himself not that dastardly, nasty, unpleasant human that he could become in that conditions.
At least he still has a moral compass, while others turned into monsters.
