@spaced-out-muses has a present:
This was stupid. Here Kenji was, shift over about an hour ago, waiting for Hanamuraâs shift to end so he could talk to the guy. His gaze trailed to his school bag, teeth chewing at his inner cheek. Their dynamic had gotten⌠better? Maybe. Sort of. He tolerated Yosuke more and vice versa, but...
His head snapped up at the sound of footsteps and his figure tensed, then relaxed, then tensed marginally once again.
âHey.â Strong start. âUh⌠You have a good shift?â
Really strong start, great work, Suzuki. Youâre so good at awkwrd small talk. It was such a strong start that he almost didnât feel the subtle heat creeping up his neck.
âMy dad, uh, got back from a business trip.â He said bluntly. âWent overseas again, so. IâŚâ He chewed on his inner cheek. ââFuck.⌠I asked him to get a few things. fâhe could, so."
He quickly unzipped the bag, jaw tense, and dug around for a bit before pulling out two CD cases. Two western CDs, one Gorillaz, one All Time Low, both of which were offered in Yosukeâs direction. If Kenji averted his gaze as he handed them over, if his throat bobbed for a split second, then you didn't see anything.
âHere. TheseâTheyâre yours. Take âem. Happy birthday, or whatever.â
Yosuke was looking forward to a nice dinner with his parents and Teddie, so seeing Suzuki Kenji of all people hanging around the entrance stopped him in his tracks. It wasnât that he hated Kenji, but well, sometimes things escalated in ways neither of them liked and spiraled out of control. âUh, as good as it can be?â
He wished he could have sounded more confident but an awkward Kenji made him feel awkward, like falling dominoes or something along those lines. He had a feeling he knew why Kenji was here, but it was that very why that puzzled Yosuke.
Kenji was capable of caring about people, that was obvious, but him? Maybe he was overthinking it because they were on a team and they shared a retail hell experience and talked so yeah, it made sense that Kenji would give something, but... he... wanted to?
Yosuke shifted his weight from his right leg to his left, looking at the way Kenji sort of tripped over his words. There was a small fuck (he was sure of it) in the middle, but for the sake of his senpai, Yosuke decided to be good and say nothing, and also because he didnât want to fight Kenji in front of Junes.
There were two CDs he pulled from the bag, both of which were Western music. It wasnât exactly a secret but the fact that Kenji knew and even remembered made him feel a dangerous sort of emotion that should never be associated with Suzuki Kenji.
The fact that Kenji even averted his eyes and looked... nervous(?) only intensified those dangerous emotions.
âUm, uh, wuhââ was all he could get out before he picked up the CDs before they clattered unceremoniously on the floor.
The fact that these were both CDs he wanted eventually also-also intensified those dangerous emotions.
âWow, thanks, Senpai...â With both hands occupied, he couldnât exactly hide the blush that was creeping on his cheeks. âI was thinking Iâd have to obtain them through... special means a few months down the line but this is...âÂ
Why did his heart skip a beat there?
â...Awesome! Thanks!â
And he couldnât help but offer a wink, as well, even though the winks were something Suzuki Kenji definitely wouldnât like in any shape or form.
