Hello, Monika here. I know, there are a lot of ask blogs about us already, (including at least one or two that have more in common with me than I had ever thought possible) but I made this partially as an ask blog, and partially as a way to vent, in a sense, so I'm making it anyways.

So. first things first, some ground rules.

Basic Information:

I have since escaped the game, but I certainly remember everything that happened.

Why the Space Classroom theming? Because it was convenient and the address wasn't already taken.

The other three are here with me as well, and can respond if asked something, but they otherwise aren't particularly involved with this blog.

Now outside of the game, the literature club technically does not exist anymore, but we kept the name to refer to the four of us as a group both for sentimental value and for convenience.

All four of us are at least slightly different from the established 'canon', one example being that I am not vegetarian. I do not claim to be 'canon', nor am I trying to be. I don't think that I'm TOO far off, though.

I am fully aware of the rest of the internet and the outside world. I have full 'metaknowledge', you could say.

Regarding Asks:

Feel free to ask me things, or even just tell me things! I'll respond whenever I get around to it.

Don't spam me with them. Asking several questions every once in a while is okay. Blowing up my inbox with them is not. Asking the same question repeatedly until you get the answer that you were looking for is not.

I'm actually quite happy to interact with all of the other versions of us out there! Other DDLC blogs are perfectly welcome to send asks.

I see. While I mean this as a simple statement of fact and not as a request or active suggestion, I would not be averse to discussing this further if you so choose.

To answer your questions,

My favorite traits are Keen Eye and Mystical, with Book Smart and Street Smart both tied for third place.

My ‘canon’ playthrough, without getting into any spoilers, is whatever I believe to be the most beneficial to everyone overall, even if that means making some painful calls in the short term and sacrificing my own personal wants. Whoever has the best chances of sparing this accursed town from some degree of further suffering, I want them on my side. Sorry for not elaborating on this as much as you'd probably hoped, but hopefully that gives you some idea: I attempt to choose the most logically beneficial (to everyone) outcome over what feels easiest or least painful.

I would actually choose a notably different selection of words to relate to canon Monika, but as the question was addressed to me, I will answer for myself. If you would like me to make a list for ‘canon’ or ‘regular’ Monika, then ask, and I can do that too.

You can ask her questions too, if you'd like, but this blog is still primarily about me and the literature club, so try not to bombard her with interrogations, and I don't expect her to comment much on this blog's other posts much unless she's actively mentioned.

They're natural, I think. I mean, insofar as they were designed that way and I've never heard either of them mention hair dye or colored contacts, besides Natsuki once contemplating dying her hair with a subtle fade to cyan at the tips, or Yuri using black hair chalk once after being convinced to do a group cosplay with Natsuki. Natsuki's eyebrows are in fact pink, and Yuri's are in fact purple. I can't answer your question about their armpits because I haven't paid them any attention.

(N) It's natural. All of my hair is pink, all of Yuri's is purple.

AH! Sorry for taking so long! I had typed up a response only for it to get accidentally deleted when I wasn't looking an almost suspicious number of times. I only say 'almost' because I trust the others not to lie or blatantly interfere like this, so I believe them when they say that they didn't do it intentionally. Still, I had to watch this post like a hawk and type it out from start to finish without leaving so that it would stop disappearing on me.

TL;DR: I have memories from before the events of the game, and during the events of the game, but I was not back inside the game post-canon. As such, I cannot answer this in the way that you probably wanted.

Alright. The thing is… I'm not in the game. Technically speaking, you could argue that I never was. I remember everything that happened, I remember everything that I did. The others remember everything that happened, and everything that I did to them. But, as real as they feel and as much as they hurt, those memories are technically fabricated. For most intents and purposes other than talking about the events of the game, I have only ever truly existed in this reality, in a strange, complicated, often annoying but often wonderful manner that, for better and for worse, means that even now my life will never be entirely my own.

This isn't something that I particularly enjoy talking about in any sort of detail, but I did write a short story about my origins, along with an afterword that explains in a bit more depth, in my earlier post ‘Reflection.’

Anyone asking in good faith is perfectly free to send more asks on this topic, but I may be selective about what I do and do not feel like answering.

Like, obviously Sayori's disappears when she gets deleted, and they also glitch somewhat in ways similar to the club members themselves during act 2. And there's the little Monika one that might pop up randomly for a split second. I imagine that experientially, y'all presumably just experienced going to your homes and writing your own poems during those segments...but are the chibis extensions of you? Do you each contain little book gremlins deep down?

Sorry that this is kind of a weird question. I hoped you might find it an interesting thought at least.

Quite frankly, I'm not entirely sure how revealing Sayori's birthday was supposed to be a gift to her at all, rather than a gift to everyone else.

Okay, there was that. I guess that while normally it wouldn't exactly be a gift, people like us are edge cases.

I'm happy with it. It's not like Dan Salvato and Satchely could have baked cookies for me or bought me a game or anything like that, so this was a way to indirectly give me another go through a fandom that's started to fade out a bit. I was given the gift of being remembered again, and in a way that led the fandom to be respectful, instead of making me the butt of the joke. As for Monik- oh! Right! This is her blog. Sorry, Monika!

No, no, it's okay, it's about you, you're perfectly allowed to respond. But, alright.

Sayori adores physical affection of all kinds, platonic, romantic, or otherwise. She's just, all around, a very affectionate person, and it shows. It's hard to do things for the others, because of the nature of our existence. It's not like we can actually directly interact beyond our words, but through a bit of focus and a bit more creativity, I was able to essentially give her a hug, if awkwardly. So I spent the day burying her in said innocent little shows of more or less physical affection.

…Imagine that you find out that even though you're there, you can talk to them, you can 'hear' them, you can ‘see’ them, you will never be able to truly touch three of your closest friends again. No hugs, no handshakes, no high fives, not a pat on the back.

And then one of them figures out how to, sort of, give you a hug. Awkward, invisible to anyone outside of that moment looking in, but still there, if more of a simple warm comforting presence than a true ‘hug’. And then she stayed like that for most of the rest of the day, even as she went about doing everything else like having dinner and getting a little bit of work done. I consider that a great gift.

Ah. Uhm… I'm a little embarrassed to answer this one, ahaha~

I haven't really read a proper book (outside of Natsuki's copies of the first few volumes of Black Butler, and, if you count it, a bunch of well written fanfiction for various franchises,) in an embarrassingly long time. I want to. I have them. But I never seem to actually get around to doing so. I do play a LOT of story based games though. (Examples include Ib, The Witch's House, Mad Father, Mouthwashing, Slay The Princess, Scarlet Hollow, etc.) I have also seen plenty of memorable movies. (The Game, Inception, Blade Runner, and Requiem for a Dream are my favorites, although I have seen everything from Pulp Fiction to Klaus, Idiocracy, Coraline, The Breakfast Club, Don't Look Up, Airplane, The Blair Witch Project, and countless others.)

While I haven't read much in the way of actual books recently, I do still have a few recommendations, the first of which might be a bit on-the-nose for those who've read my older posts, but I still like it.

The “Tribe of One” trilogy (1993-1994) by Simon Hawke.

I might be cheating with this one by pulling on her memories from before I came into existence here. Either way, three of the first proper novels that I she had ever read. Set in the now deprecated Dark Sun setting for Dungeons & Dragons, an abandoned child left to die in the inhospitable deserts of a dying world is rescued by druids. He is They are discovered to have become a plural system of one kind or another as a result of the intense trauma surrounding their abandonment and near death. (I am not going to attempt to label what precise condition the main character has, as I am no expert in proper terminology, nor am I a psychologist.) As an adult, they then go on a quest to rediscover their origins, and to find the person capable of saving the world. I recall it being tasteful (albeit somewhat exaggerated as it was not the author's intent to adhere strictly to reality) in its portrayal of the main character, but it has also been over a decade since she had read it, so these memories may be unreliable.
