DON’T BLINK!
The weeping angels are locked with quantum physics, so don’t blink! Yes, quantum physics is a real concept and it goes deep into theory with proof.
In 1801, Thomas Young, a British Physician, proved that electrons and protons are different depending on if there is anything observing it. When he first aimed an electron beam gun through two slits like an equal sign, the electrons would hit the back wall like how the sign looked. But when he left the room, and redid the experiment, the pattern was more like crisscrosses. He came back and redid the experiment with a camera watching but himself physically outside of the room. It went back to looking like the equal sign. To this day, scientists are unable to explain the reasoning behind quantum physics although there are so many math equations that have found the pattern in their movements.
Since everything is made of electrons, your laptop could be a completely different from when you’re not looking at it, the minute it’s not being observed, it could be just a piece of metal. Or wait, metal might not even be metal when no one’s looking at it, you’d never know. The only reason why weeping angels are so scary is because their electrons somehow react to the lack of observation by moving. Although everything around us doesn’t move, they are still made up of electrons that don’t “operate properly” when we’re looking at it, so think of how different the world might be if it was never under observation.
In Doctor Who, the weeping angels are quantum locked. When you look at them, they are stone, but when you are not, they move incredibly fast and feast off of time energy. Everyone just automatically assumes that they are still stone when they’re moving, just a different formation. In reality, they are probably something entirely different with different compositions. Another question many whovians ask, is why can’t they just put a mirror in front of it and have it stare at itself. The answer is that it wouldn’t work because it is not an outside source that is observing it. In that way, it’s different. But again, scientists don’t know why yet.
So basically, everything can be totally in a different state when you are not looking at it. Rocks could be soft, water can be solid, and that angel could come out of your screen any minute.
