The biggest thing that Kaspar could lose in this story is his first love. And only because of this we can know how much the sense of honor is worth, the awareness of value of which comes in relationships between people.
It has always amazed me how radical young people are about their problems. We can say that losing your first love or a battle with boys is not worth giving up the rest of your life, but that makes a lot of sense from the perspective of the sincerity of their lives.
