My Process for the year 3 specialist pathway project.
I’ve completed my year 3 specialist pathway project!

A process of my year 3 specialist pathway so far
Here’s my process so far on the year 3 specialist pathway project. There’s still much more to be done and I’ll be working on it further.
This project’s a challenging one but it’s been really fun so far (despite the fact my sleep is messed beyond repair at this point because of it >:U ). I’ll probably be changing my mind on that once I start working more on the UVs though. T-T
Process for my Specialisation submission.
Although the character creation isn’t complete yet, here’s my process for what I have been able to do.
As always I start with the head and work towards creating to body. I haven't created many male characters yet so this was a good opportunity to practise male anatomy.

My progress on my Specialisation pathway. I chose to create a 3D character by using a 2D concept.
The original character belongs to Allon Kremer:

Allon’s a great artist please check them out!
Process for my Year 2 & 3 group project.
I started with Zbrush to create a high poly sculpt of the character, I went through plenty of iterations for the head & face until I settled on one I liked. After the face I began to create the body by using simple shapes to first block out my proportions, when this was done I began to sculpt in the muscles, making sure to try and keep the stylised aesthetic I was aiming for.
Once I was done with the high poly model, I began retopology. Retopology wasn't too hard for this character and I always find this process to be quite relaxing, so this process went smoothly.
Overall I’ve learnt a few new things as I made this character so it was definitely some good practise for the future. I’d like to say thanks to my 3rd year group partner Anastasia for being very helpful in this project, it was really fun doing this.
Submission for the Year 2 & 3 group project.
I was tasked with making a female dancer using a bright neon colour palette
I’ve also uploaded this model on Sketchfab, check it out here:

Process for my Specialization project:
I Used Zbrush & Marmoset Toolbag for this project.
I used a base mesh to start off the sculpt, making sure to try and capture the proportions on the reference I was using. After I had a good foundation I started to work on the facial features using a few brushes. I added eyes and coloured them in using poly-paint. Eyelashes came next, I created them by using the topology brush and moving them into place. I struggled for a while with the eyebrows and eventually settled on poly-painting them on to the sculpt. The hair took up most of my time on this project, I used an IMM Brush to place down clumps of hair and then moved them around using both the move brush and the move topology brush. I created the clothing by using the extract function. After that i just needed to pose and tweak the sculpt where necessary.
I used Marmoset Toolbag to render the sculpt, It was my first time using Marmoset and I’ll definitely be using it a lot more in the future.

Process for the Walking Simulator task (Group Project). With Ellie, Antonio & Holly.
This task was quite challenging but I’ve learnt quite a lot about the character development pipeline.
Within my group, I was mainly tasked with character creation, Working with a little bit of audio, some texturing and posing.
I started week 1 off by experimenting in 3d with the concepts provided to me by my group members, going through a few iterations for the both the female character and the robots I was tasked with modelling.
In week 2 I went on to start the retopology of the female character as well as finishing the robot. Antonio, one of my group members, helped me out immensely in the creation of the robot, adding a lot more detail on to the final model.
By week 3 I had finished up everything and moved on to posing all the characters so they can be placed on to the scene. Once finished with posing, I played around with the audio provided by Holly, another one of my group members. The result wasn’t anything spectacular but I do enjoy sound design a lot more than I thought I would.
Stumbled upon plenty of problems along the way of this project and a lot of things unfortunately ended up being scrapped. I believe we may have aimed a little too high when first coming up with ideas.Â
A video going through some of the level we created can be found here:Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4BgwGPm3NwÂ
Process for my Motion graphics submission.
I feel like creating motion graphics is much more technical than the usual animations I’m used to creating.
I wanted to make letters and numbers out of simple shapes:
I started by creating a few objects and used a cloner to generate the same objects a random amount of times, up to 150 objects. I then played around with the Motext tool to create the letters and numbers I needed. Once I had my text, I used the connect tool to connect those cloned objects to the Motext. All it came down to after that was to play around with a few settings, including the randomizer option to make it look a little nicer by changing scales and rotations of the objects.

Process for my Creature animation.
This animation was quite fun, being given a model like this to animate opens up a lot of possibilities of things to do. I chose to make this Allosaurus roar forward, as if challenging an enemy.
I decided to dedicate the first few frames of the animation to the Allosaurus sort of charging up its screech, by dragging its foot along the floor. Next I made the Allosaurus lift up the same foot I mentioned, and pulling its neck back at the same time. This acts as a sort of anticipation for what its about to do. Lastly the Allosaurus roars. I animated the neck and head to shake in order to emulate strength behind its roaring. The animation finishes up with the allosaurus going back to its original position.
I played around with the smaller details too. some examples I can provide is the hands and feet. I made it so that the Allosaurus creates a little fist as it gets ready to roar, adding to the anticipation, I also made sure to make it feel like there was some resistance between the floor and the sliding of the foot, by slowing the foot down as it slid along the floor and making the toes the last to come upwards as it lifted it’s foot.
I took references from various documentaries showcasing different dinosaurs and their behaviours. From what I understood, the Allosaurus sounds like an aggresive being, hopefully I captured that feeling in the short animation I made.
