perhaps where han sooyoungs selfishness feels different is that she is also willing to sacrifice other people to the extent of starting a fucking apocalypse. this is a choice the rest of kimcom struggle to make (although notably kim dokja sacrifices a fair few at the beginning of his journey). this is where her self-inflicted villainess role comes in. what always sticks out to me is that she alone calls out 49% and the false epilogue - shes willing to sacrifice 49% and the happiness they have with them for what she wants (her reader back), which no one else has been able to do. i think ultimately the biggest difference between kim dokja and han sooyoungs selfishness is that kim dokja sees himself as uniquely worthy of suffering and sacrifice, and so takes that path to get what he wants, whereas han sooyoung (although definitely with her own self worth issues) (that would need to be a whole other post) is happy to enflict suffering on whoever she needs to for her goals.
