The same groups of people (men and patriarchal women) who despise and shame muscular female bodies also do their best to make it seem *cringe* when women are too self-reliant by sneeringly referring to them as "girlboss" and "strong independent women" - not to mention any number of other epithets related to our wellness and freedom, such as "bitter dried up career women" and "childless cat ladies."
Every day I come across videos and comments laughing at women for being independent and not wanting a man's help, even when the women in question don't struggle very much in what they're doing and actually accomplish their tasks.
"Mary Sue" is a term used for female characters who are too competent; it's those who come too close to exhibiting the skill level of any "badass" male character. "Marty Sue" is supposedly the male equivalent, but I've never heard it used. I HAVE heard "Mary Sue" about a million times though.
Half the population benefits from women being uneducated, ignorant, unskilled, and physically weak, and the women who serve that population gleefully help to get the rest of us "back in line" with this image of womanhood.
Reject it. Be the physically strong and OBNOXIOUSLY educated and skilled woman that would irritate men and patriarchal women.
