“ Oh I know you are. Too smart for your own good, some times. ” Her brow creased in deep concentration, her fingers working slowly but swiftly to take care of that messy hair so she could finish combing. “ Yes, we work together. He is my employer, actually. My boss. ” The clarification served in case ‘employer’ was too big a word for Jack. The last question, well that one put a more serious expression on her face. “ I’ll be honest and say he doesn’t like children very much. He’s worse than me, if you can believe that. I… would rather you not meet him, Jack. For both our sakes. ”

     “ when do we get to go to somewhere bigger? there’s not enough space ‘ere! ” frustrated and tired was partially the reason for his frustration---part of it was just because what he said happened to be true. “ ‘m not sick anymore...I wanna go outside to play. Not in here... ” the one room apartment had its ups and downs. blond hair stuck to his feverish forehead, “ can’t we go somewhere bigger? ”

“ how come when we argue I always get in trouble? how come not you, huh? ” his little nose crinkles in frustration. though jack wasn’t mad anymore, having been placed in his room to cool down----which had actually just resulted in him taking a nap. “ ...I missed you when you were gone! thats why I was upset---okay? ”

“ ---I have to tell you something, ‘nd you can’t get mad or else I won’t tell ya’. ” lips press together and jack’s fingers pick nervously at a hangnail on his thumb. it had been an accident. and it was mostly Mac’s fault to begin with anyways. deep breath. “ ---uuuuuhhhm....so I have to tell you something.. ”

“ Hmm, I don’t know about that. But are kind of cute, so maybe you’re right. ” She patted his blonde head gently and stood up to take a quick trip to the bathroom, fetching his comb. Once she was settled down on the couch, she propped him on her knees. “ I promise I’ll be careful, ” she told him whilst she began brushing the comb’s teeth through his hair in long, slow movements, stopping every time she met resistance to try and untangle the knots with her fingers. “ Uh, well, he’s… He owns a business. It’s a little tough to explain without it sounding confusing. ” Great excuse.

“ He’s… handsome, I… guess. ” Okay, these kinds of questions were easy. Those she could handle. There was no harm in describing your… ehrm, boyfriend’s looks. “ He has dark hair and hazel eyes. Like a well-roasted chestnut, you know? And tattoos. A lot of them, more than me. ” Seeing the little young boy get all excited at least got her smiling. Just a bit. “ His name is Zach. And your hair is begging for a comb, so why don’t I do that while you interrogate me? ”

“ because I wanna know---duh. what’s he look like? ” a blond brow raises and a little hint of a smile tugs at the corner of his lip. He can tell Koshka is hesitant for some reason. jack was always quite bold in his questions and this wasn’t much different. “ what’s ‘is name too! ” the last question was added on quickly as the kid sat up from his position on the couch, blond hairs sticking up wildly as he moved closer to Koshka. “ hm? ”
