is your muse a pacifist? to what degree?

unable to condone senseless violence as the paragon of the empress arcana, she prioritizes peace and prosperity above all. with the belief that organization promotes efficiency, anyone who acts recklessly or steps a toe out of line will be dealt with the appropriate punishment if only to restore order. ( in the worst case scenarios, said method of penance may at times be an infamous execution upon the unfortunate. )

` cooperation over conflict ` is one of the many lessons that has been instilled within mitsuru at a young age— burgeoning over time into a personal principle. her father ( ragged and weary from sin and bloodshed ) was a sharp and cautious man who sought to assure that the mistakes of their past would not repeat, thus fostering all of the traits and ideals his father never endeared into the young heiress until she had them memorized by heart.

nietzsche said, “hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man.” how does your muse feel about that?

neither a pessimist nor an optimist, mitsuru’s conscience is guided almost entirely by rationale (morality a near-contender). while she doesn’t necessarily view the world in black and white her thoughts are often based upon precision and logic— and it’s within this frame of mind that she’s able to simultaneously agree and disagree with this quote for she’s experienced both extremities of the scale.

and she has concluded that hope may be as cruel as it is beautiful.

stacked against all odds it may be false and misguided. hope may be simply a distraction spinning illusions of achievement and fanciful dreams, thus barring the way of practicalities. to dangle false hope upon a beaten man, to rely on blind faith and believe manual labor could be avoided, to continue one’s childhood dreams no matter how outlandish— disappointment stings when reality is realized. hope accumulates (unrealistic) expectations, and the higher they’re stacked the more terrible the fall.

yet she has tasted its sweet ambrosia as well, for hope and optimism is what keeps one afloat during their darkest moment— to keep from pathetically drowning in despair. without hope, the likelihood of wallowing rises and the probability of picking oneself up lowers. one cannot look towards the future, cannot carry on, if they do not possess even the tiniest of hope.

it’s a double-edged sword. it’s motivation and relief, but also blind and reckless if left unchecked.
