This is random, and I never really talk about myself on here, but I feel like I've kinda learned something
I left a horrible horrible friendship a couple of months back, and everything felt ruined. I couldn't look at pictures of snoopy, cats, listen to mitski, watch certain South Park episodes, read fanfiction at all, see scott pilgrim media, or dogman. So many things and more. It sounds like I'm exadurating, but if consuming this media even brought back one thought, I'd be crying.
But, I learned something. (God I sound like kyleπ) you NEED to consume those things when you feel like this. Well, at least in my case, yours may be different. But it was so difficult having to be reminded of something I hated when I saw something I loved. Considering they were extremely controlling, I don't want them to control that part of my life. Expose yourself to it more! It'll make new memories over those ones. It'll mean less control that trauma has over you
After doing this, I can listen to mitski, look at silly cat videos, say certain words, etc. I just feel like I'm happier. I still steuggle with a bit of things but thats the thing, healing takes time. Healing is all about you, not them. So listen to that song, watch that movie, go to that place. Everything will be okay. It may take time but all time passes. It's better to end with things you love being your own again
