India is bleeding and is going through possibly its worst health crisis it has ever experienced. People are dying, not because they can’t be saved, but because there are no hospital beds. There is no oxygen. There are no ventilators. Instead, people are having to resort to travelling miles and miles each day to obtain a fraction of the medical support they need, many dying on the streets during the long wait.

Hospitals and healthcare staff are overstretched with multiple people often having to share a single bed - and these are the ones who are considered lucky because they at least have a bed. Crematoriums are having to perform mass cremations - a ceremony believed to release the soul from the body - and are running out of wood and space to do this. Meaning close family aren’t even able to say goodbye to their loved ones in their final, most scared moments.

The daily covid cases recorded in India are currently around 300,000+, however this figure only includes urban cities, not the rural population, of whom tens of thousands more are likely to be suffering/have died. The official figure is probably A LOT higher.
