âGee, Pops, youâre saltier than these chips- hey!â He reached for the chips but couldnât get at them. âI thought theyâd be like sour cream and onion! The bag is green, too, and everyone knows that a green chips bag means sour cream and onion. These are just hella onion.â Priapus knew he should be wary and on alert. It wasnât exactly news that something was afoot at the Circle K. But, he couldnât imagine anyone left as a traitor, and mostly just hoped he and his brother would get by on good karma.Â
âdonât call me pops. iâm not the dad of a nuclear family from the fifties,â he muttered, easily keeping the chips out of reach as he ate a handful. they were extremely oniony, but they were chips, and he was a fan of chips. âonions are great, if you donât respect them then you donât deserve these chips, tough tits,â he said as he glanced at priapus. he never really suspected the man as a traitor, because of the way he was, really...but who knows, it could have been a very skilled long con. maybe priapus was secretly a mastermind. âdonât you have something to be doing anyway?â
Priapus, er, Rick, no, wait,âRod, as his London cover ID stated, examined his bag of chips, or as they were known in jolly olâ England, crisps. Man keeping all his names straight was tough. Technically, he wasnât even supposed to be Rick, and outside the tower he wasnât Priapus either. They were cheese and onion flavored, which Rod thought was gonna be like sour cream and onion (which they didnât have here.) He offered the open bag to the person next to him. âYo, you want some? These are so not what I thought.â
he stared at priapus, eyebrow raised, face utterly impassive. now, honestly, soter found him a pretty low risk, in terms of disguise. priapus didnât exactly radiate spy, or even dangerous. he pretty much gave off the frat boy flunking out on a volley ball scholarship vibe, which made soterâs job fairly easy. he never thought just be yourself would be a technique he would bestow on anyone. â...no. i donât. you should have thought of that before you bought them,â he grumbled...but then decided that he actually did want the chips, because, well, chips, and he took the bag from him.Â
she did try to hold his stare for as long as possibleâwhich was about 0,05 seconds. her father had always taught her the importance of showing respect to any kind of authority, and although soter was not the head agent nor part of the staff, he had been an olympus agent for longer than her, and she could only imagine what kind of previous experience carried upon his shoulders. well aware that soter couldnât lay a hand on her or harm her in any way ( excruciatingly long hours of paperwork aside ), her eyes fixed on the wall in front of her before he could threaten her, gulping hardly as she finished her snack in silence. â iâm sorry, sir, â she let out after she was finished, eyes still set on the wall. her tongue swept over her lip as she wondered whether or not she should break the silence. for the record, she knew she shouldnât have, but she did anyway, unable to stop herself and her awkward timbre. â so⌠einsteinâs gravitational waves can be âseenâ now. â
for a moment, he thought heâd won. she was finally quiet- if not a little nervous looking. he went back to his files, occasionally sipping his coffee, content with entirely ignoring her existence for the time being. until, once more, he heard her small voice slipping through the blessed silence heâd been graced with. he pressed his lips together in a thin line, stared straight ahead, and let a rather long and arduous sigh out of his nose. â...nope. didnât know that. sâcool, i guess?â he rubbed his forehead and turned his head to face in her direction. he could tell the difference between chattering to be a nuisance and talking for a need to fill the silence. if she was uncomfortable with it, well, then he could talk for the few minutes he had left. or at the very least, listen. or pretend to, depending on the conversation. âgo ahead, talk about the ocean. iâd rather hear about the ocean, iâm not smart enough to understand gravitational waves.â
âbut doesnât a calculated lifespan include all those other factors,â ari sighed, sounding more defeated than argumentative, mumbling under his breath that bugs were innocent and it was nothing like having to face down someone like a known terrorist. with a quick succession of blinks, he watched soter and all his visible tensions, then dug his fingers into select pressure points on soterâs shoulder to try to help relieve at least some of the physical pains that came with being tense. the rest of it was a spiritual matter; ariadne could tell, and he could also tell that soter would not be welcome to being told he needed to meditate and align his chakras if he wanted to help eradicate the inner turmoils plaguing him. at least not yet. âdemeter is sort of a hard person to keep track of,â ari admitted, with a little shrug of one shoulder. âheâs always very busy doingâi donât know. stuff daedalus tells him to do.â batting his eyelashes, he added (after a pause), âbut i can help, maybe.â
instinctively, and with a faster reflex than most of the base might expect out of him, he grabbed ariâs wrist and pushed the kid away. his face hardened, about to sound off at the kid, but then noticed that after the initial shock of slight sharpness that came with hitting any pressure point- it felt a bit better. so after a secondary pause, he let go of ariâs hand and tilted his head. âsorry â donât do that again.â he didnât mind the contact, he just hadnât been expecting it. that, and he was feeling a bit jumpy, what with everything going on. so he pressed a hand to his forehead and sighed. âfucking demeter. canât get ahold of shit.â he shook his head, almost ready to flat out refuse...but then stopped himself. because ari had completed training, and he was an olympus agent, and he needed someone ready for action. âalright. fine...you up for field work?â maybe it was because ari seemed so much younger in spirit than the other agents but he felt like sending him out would be taking advantage of him, and putting the kid in a situation that he wouldnât be able to handle âall, for the most part, untrue. ari was an adult. he could handle himself. i mean, it was clear the kid knew pressure points well enough to be able to take someone out. â...surveillance only, no contact.â

Itâd been years since Hypnos had emerged from his hiding. Years of never seeing or speaking to anyone he knew personally and had a close bond with. His loyalty to Olympus was rooted into his blood and he was deeply trusted by Chronos himself but even with that, Hypnos needed to be alone and heal after he was faced with the most bitter betrayal. When Olympus was attacked he knew he had to return, he knew they needed him more than he needed them. Heâd been ignoring the tower for some time now, very few agents were informed about Agent Hypnosâ return. He wandered the streets of London freely. Heâd been pronounced missing and assumed dead for some time now, if caught by the wrong person he could easily play it off. â- â well you certainly look like youâve seen a ghost. â He asked with a bit of worry in his tone. â Are you alright? â
he didnât take too kindly to deserters. alright, technically, that wasnât what hypnos was. soter didnât know the full story, but in his mind, he didnât need to. because as far as he knew, the agent had just vanished without a trace a while back, and yet here he was, right on the damn street, very much alive. which meant, at least in soterâs mind, that he had left intentionally, and kept himself hidden. he was born army blood, equal parts soldier and spy, and to him, that meant that hypnos had abandoned the cause. âi donât see shit,â soter said dismissively, face in a scowl, which was probably a very common version of his face. âwhy wouldnât i be fine?â he kept his current pace, heading back to the tower, because he had work to do and he wanted to work so he wouldnât have to focus on all the other fucked up shit that was happening, like ICHOR, like libya, like his seventh valentineâs day without his wife, like his leg pain, like the fact that hypnos was even alive...yeah, focusing on pushing some paperwork through sounded better.Â
so⌠she hadnât foreseen for her sudden need to talk to anyone about the terrifying mysteries of the ocean to be heard by soter. at all. in her experience, he was, quite possibly, the worst person to chat about anything that wasnât strictly related to olympusânot that it had stopped her before, even if she wasnât quite sure what to say now. â yeah, wellââ she tsked, hands crossing over her chest. had she not been a trained agent and, well, twenty, she wouldâve stuck her tongue out, in all honesty. â iâd like to have manish malhotraâs entire bridal collection for a wedding i most likely wonât even have, but⌠you canât always get what you want. â and yes, she sang her words to the famous rolling stonesâ hit as her head wobbled, a hint of a smile approaching her lips before erasing every trace of it ever existing.
he gave her a long stare, one that was entirely unwavering and unchanging. he had a bit of a keen sense for the agents that were, well, easily intimidated. truth be told, he liked them the most- easily intimidated usually transferred to respect, in his book. and that was something that was very important to him. regardless, he was in a poor mood (as if that was something new) and he had exactly 0 patience for her conversation. âfascinating, but if you keep talking to me, iâm going to have to do something drastic, and i donât think either of us want that.â please, drastic, like him getting up and moving was akin to the berlin wall. âso shut up, and swallow your food, weâre not in a barn.â he sipped at his coffee as he scanned the redacted files in his lap. âsinging rolling stones to me, who does she think she is,â he muttered under his breath.Â
â â OH!! biscuits. i â golly, you take out one screw and the whole thing just!! this is terrible engineering you know, if it was built right in the first place it wouldnât have fallen apart like this. okay. no but this is perfectly okay because i can fix it. i mean, i WILL fix it. tip top shape, and no one will be any the wiser, exceptâŚwell, Y O U. because you uh, you caught me. how embarrassing. i promise i belong here. iâm uh, well, itâs been an OFF day because i ran out of um, bolts, and this thing had bolts, i figured it wouldnât mind if i BORROWED one but i guess i was wrongâŚâ
âiâm going to stop you there, because i actually do not care at all. like, at all. the only thing i care about is making sure my food stays cold in the refrigerator so make sure itâs working before you leave here...also, and this is vastly more important...biscuits? can you swear like an adult, and not a character on blueâs clues?â
If there was one thing Emma learned from all those years in the military, it would have to be precision. It was drilled into her mind by her commanders early on and it had stuck with her in everything she did ever since. Tonight was no different in the way she planned to execute her plot, and she expected nothing but the best out of the small group of agents that tagged along with her. The darkness of the night had finally enveloped the majority of the harbor, giving their unit an upper hand against the enemies inside the warehouse. She remained silent and well hidden in the shadows, her back was pressed firmly against the coolness of the metal shipping containers with an automatic gun in hand. âThis is Agent Otohime, do you copy?â She asked steadily into the intercom, her icy gaze was focused solely on the armed guards standing a few feet away from her post. âAre you in position? The rescue mission will initiate in one minute, prepare yourself.â
he wasnât supposed to be out, and if anyone (well, not anyone) found out, then heâd probably have, well, no consequence at all come to think of it. but it would certainly mean a long lecture from the medical team. regardless, heâd had a bad feeling about the agent transport and he also had a feeling that they would be unbelievable under-staffed...so, he made it his own personal duty to see to it running smoothly. he wasnât supposed to be there, but there he was. he snapped at the guards, who seemed to be too lax, in his opinion. âhey, assholes. eyes up. this isnât daycare, act alive.â he narrowed his eyes at them, and then looked out into the darkness, where he could see nothing, and yet still had the eerie feeling of being watched. âno one comes through here, you hear me? weâre transporting an asset not a shipment of fucking orange juice.â

Sometimes I feel like everyone I work with is an idiot. And by sometimes, I mean all times. All the times. Every of the time.

for a brief moment, hera had half a mind to stare at him like heâd gone completely insane and question the antics, but she quickly realized that he was acting stranger than usual with reason. as he passed, she rummaged around in her pocket for the note heâd dropped, eyes skimming over it quickly before crumpling it up into a ball and shoving it back inside her coat. she turned on her heel in order to follow him, making a few detours along the way before she managed to catch up with him in a safe enough environment to speak somewhat freely. it took a few long strides to sidle back up to him, and she kept her head down as she talked. âwhatâs the sitch?â she said quietly, hint of a joke lingering in her voice.
âsitch? what is that?â his brow furrowed as he tried to place the reference, but came tragically short. he never made eye contact with her- they were in a relatively safe position, but old habits were hard to break. he kept his eyes forward as he walked, occasionally checking his phone and fidgeting with the glasses that continuously slid down his nose. âsuspect, east london tunnels. we can catch him at the station and tail him. intel says heâs alone, but i donât want to risk being caught in hot water without any back up, and...â he smiled a bit as he checked his phone, using the action to cover his smirk. âyouâre the best back up i can think of.â he kept the fact that he wasnât supposed to be on active duty yet entirely to himself, and slightly tilted his phone so she would be able to see out of the corner of her vision the man they were looking for. âarms dealer. we catch him we can cut off supplies to some of the in action terrorism groups.â

âSo, you know how to make sure that secrets remain secret and I know how to use tweezers in many grotesque ways â all we can do in the offense department is you making sure that no-one finds out that Iâm secretly plucking my eyebrows. â â â â No, scrap that, it was too cynical even for my capabilities. Truth be told, we wonât go anywhere near a successful strike as long as this agency isnât back to the discipline that used to be a thing. With half of the agents running around the town like itâs their first holiday without parental supervision and a mediocre manager instead of a leader â yeah, you guessed it, weâre fucked.â
âman, iâm so glad youâre here, because that was really inspiring. also, listen, not to rain on your parade, but even I couldnât keep the fact that you pluck your eyebrows a secret. youâre saying things that are true, alright, iâll give you that. but weâre not fucked until we let ourselves be fucked. are you bending over any time soon? good, me neither, so letâs do something so when that day inevitably comes i can atleast say i tried to prevent the fuckage.â
She thought sheâd gotten her mind cleared from the mess of double agents once she was finally cleared from the infirmary. Clearly she was wrong. And after a somewhat uneventful day of looking through security footage from almost all of London, Athena found herself back in the training room, wielding a katana with against another individual. The only sound that was heard was of metal clashing against metal. She was definitely into her zone as she sent a kick to her sparring accomplice before noticing someone, or something hovering by the doorway. Â â Training roomâs opened to everyone, you know. Iâll try not to stab you with an samurai sword from Feudalist Japan, â she commented as she walked over to help her partner up.
âi do know. but thank you for the unnecessary reminder.â he wasnât supposed to be in the training room, because of his leg, for one, and two, because he had about five thousand other things that he needed to be doing. but he was hoping that at least one of the areas would be empty and he would have a place to think for a minute. and yet...no such luck. âi mean, is that the most practical weapon? i donât think i can find a disguise that can accurately cover a katana.â really, he was just in a poor mood, and was finding just about anything he could to complain about. heâd already ripped into three people, and that was since he entered the training facilities.Â
â just think about this for a secondâwe still donât know whatâs at the bottom of the ocean. â and somewhere in the united states of america, her mother is tripping over the fact that she still talks with her mouth full. but the realization ( or rather, the reminder ) popped in her mind all of the sudden, and it had gained her full, undivided attention; thatâs why reaching out to the nearest person to discuss became the mission she intended to accomplish. â i have freakinâ goosebumps and my heartâs already tryinâ to get out of my chestâitâs insane to think about. but, by all means, think about it. â
he sat silently, wondering just how she was able to form complete sentences with her mouth so full, and then cringing at the fact that she was still talking, and to him no less, as if his current and ever-present scowl wasnât deterrent enough. âwow, incredible, thank you for your candor. ah, but hereâs the thing-...go away.â well, he wasnât the base grouch for nothing. âi have six minutes left until i have somewhere to be, and until then, iâd like to have unabridged silence.â

âNo, but I can give you seventeen names of British gentlemen that are yet to be checked for their possible ISIS connection and five that have been confirmed to have it â because thatâs what Iâve been dealing with instead of ICHOR. So, out of common logic, we still have traitors here, theyâre doing their thing unnoticed and ICHOR surely knows where we are, probably also how to get inside this building and itâs reasonable to assume that theyâre getting ready for another strike. And we have nothing, thatâs where we are, currently.â
âoh that sounds fun. at least someone was doing something. and thank you for that wonderfully inspiring recap. unfortunately i donât have the authority to make any calls, otherwise iâd order a black out and a scatter order. having us all in one place is unnerving. i mean, we even called in our field agents after the mountain- you know that tactical move, where the initial assault is just a ploy to draw everyone in for the real attack? since i canât do shit here, i figure itâs time to go on the offense...getting a little tired of defense.â
