I miss your posts, how's life?
Horse wise - we just spent a large quantity of money on Bee, starting with 2 rounds of x-rays to diagnose her, 1 round to follow up, 1 round at the U of M to diagniose again, and then another round before surgery, another round post surgery, another round 3 days post surgery after she put her foot through a stall wall, and another round 2 months post surgery because I was curious. And then she went lame again, where we spent an entire day x-raying everything in her legs only to find a fractured fetlock that we injected and she went severely lame on. So we did an emergency trip back to the U of M to have two CT scans done to basically say that she would only every be safe and comfortable living in a 12 x 12 paddock the rest of her life, and there is absolutely no running/playing anything for the rest of her life and we battle against mother nature the entire time.... or we euthanize. We chose to euthanize, because no horse deserves to live in a stall its entire life to appease humans want to keep everything alive. Because of COVID I wasn’t able to be there to say goodbye, I got 15 minutes to say goodbye to a horse I spent a year rehabbing. The best thing about that experience was the amount of genuine care and life changing compassion myself and my animals received by Dr. Ernst at the U of M. There are few people in the world who truly touch your soul and make you a better person by their actions and he was one of them. He gave me those extra 5 months of comfort for her, and a lifetime of lessons through that experience. I am convinced there isnt a more compassionate team of vets on this planet.
Not horse related wise - life is great. I just booked a romantic weekend away that is going to be kid free for the first time in 2 1/2 years. We are going farm shopping with a budget I would of never imagined. I just got a promotion at work, and a huge raise. When we move, I will be up for another great promotion within my company as well. My husband lives not with me, and that’s the worst thing going on in my life right now is that we aren’t together because of the army and COVID. We just applied to adopt a 6th dog, because my husband fell in love with the dog. We don’t have any other horse plans on the horizon, losing Bee, like any horse, was an incredibly painful event that I’ve chosen to get over by burying myself in work. My kid, J, is 2. He’s incredibly. He’s patient, and kind, and he wants to help everyone with everything. Our nanny’s family adores him, they all want to spend every waking minute with him and he adores them back. I’ve done everything in my power to raise him as a kind, accepting, and considerate child and so far he just makes my heart sore as I watch him hold other kids hands as he looks for cars before crossing the road, or how he catches frogs and finds them a friend so he can release them back together.
Life in my small bubble is everything I hoped it would be, and something I never imagined would ever truly happen. It’s a wonderful feeling.
Blush is still with me.

Fall in love when you are ready, not when you are lonely.

It’s still not fair that you only got 4 years. I needed a lifetime, I needed more than the year we had together. I’m so angry still, I’m so disappointed that we did everything and i still failed you.
Have you ever seen a more chestnut mare?
