so we know in harry potter ; theo never gets an actual very detailed description of his appearance . hes only described as “weedy” and "stringy" the wiki says “… indicating that he was tall, thin, and perhaps weakly built. He was also considered to be ‘rabbity’ in appearance by some.”

but as a brief overview ;

Raised by a very elderly widower and Death Eater father, Theodore is a clever loner who does not feel the need to join gangs, including Malfoy's. Draco considers him a real equal, and he is forced to see Theodore as such, because Theodore is just as pure-blooded as he is, and somewhat cleverer.

he also saw his mother die at a young age (at least before his fifth year) , i think those would affect his childhood and upbringing .

the ways this manifests in his self would be making him closed in especially as it happens in his formative years . id imagine him fostering emotional resilience and distance . gaining mourning temperament and turns inward which makes him out to be the quiet loner in canon .

his father , an old widower may also have theo becoming more independent . he’d take up more affairs at home while also having a feeling of isolation from his peers .

these sort of things affect mannerisms and how you carry yourself .

- stillness : grief tends to shrink ppl and teach them to take up less space . hes unnaturally still , contained and doesn’t freely sway as he avoids unnecessary movement . often hides his hands , keeping them in his pockets . he does it to hide the grease stains on the edges of his sleeves or on his hands / or to fidget with smth in his pocket .

- avoids eye contact when vulnerable : hes not used to opening up . he glances away or lets his hair fall in front of his eyes .

- sleeps lightly / irregularly : loss , esp early in life , can cause sleep issues . he might rise early n sit by the window with a book , unable to stay in bed too long .

- tensions : stress or repressed grief comes up physically in tension . he clenches his jaw without realizing it , coming up especially when hes focused making his face leaner and slightly sharper . when hes finally falls asleep hes too peaceful , hes not clenching as much and he looks like the child he was supposed to be .

- delayed reactions : those dealing with loss / sadness take longer to respond . not because hes slow but because hes so used to protecting vulnerability and emotions making his smiles reserved .

tada ! i present to you my fancast ! as someone who doesnt watch a lot of movies , its hard for me to pick out an actor for him but i really do feel satisfied with my pick .

his eyebags rly show his habit of poor sleep . his hair isnt unkempt , just a little messy . slightly tousled like it fell in front of his eyes while studying and he pushed it away . even to his clothes , his appearance at first glance is neat . he’ll cuff his sleeves but his shoes aren’t polished , scuffed even . theres control in some places and absence in others because he doesn’t think anyone would notice certain things .

hes not lazy , he keeps things he can control . appearances are something important to purebloods but with theo’s lack of emotional energy he prioritizes things that hold well meaning . a well trimmed quill , cuffed sleeves to avoid it getting in the way .

theo’s sleeves are always a little bit longer than it should be . its a sort of absent-minded comfort from a time before . its also stained but fades into the darkness of his robes . not with just the spills from potions ; but oils from mechanical objects .

it covers up the jewelry , not that hes ashamed of it . but he fidgets with it . its a little too flashy perhaps feminine becauses it was his mother’s . something that he can hold onto because its the closest he’ll feel with her . maybe a posy-styled ring is something he’d have from her .

it also hides him hands . also stained with oils and his fingertips are always dark . no matter how much hes washes them , it doesnt fade and it leaves his hands a little dry from how much he tried scrubbing it off . his nails are also trimmed unevenly, some are cracked from his tinkering .

hes not very “muscle-y” , hes more inclined to books than athletics . more evident in his arms from repetitive handiwork . maybe in his forearms , and his fingers are longer . hunching over a workbench , using wrenches and twisting things these motions can build muscle in the arms . his lower body might be less built than an athlete . he’d haul heavier materials up the stairs in secret to his room .

canonically , we know theo can see thestrals . its most widely theorized he witnessed his mother’s death and i think if that was true it’d make him a more compelling character .

his mother obviously was a follower of voldemort , but im a big fan of making things ideologically confusing for theo .

his mother died before he reached the age to attend hogwarts , and was killed by her husband . she thought that her husband’s early teachings of how his only heir could serve the dark lord early and she wanted him to wait a little bit until he had to uphold traditions .

she died in the name of a cause hes told is righteous . he grows up thinking voldemort is someone to cleanse the world and make things right over a united belief . so his whole world crashes down when he realizes even the believers are not safe from him no matter how loyal they are .

a lover of muggle culture . a guilty pleasure , really .

it starts off with the giant , old grandfather clock that seemed so much louder in the dreadful silence of his mother’s death . the house went quiet , his father drifted further away . the meals were in silence and the only thing speaking was the tick-tock of a clock .

technology ? to wizards that was the closest thing those muggles could have to magic . theo was sure his father would share that sentiment . at a young age , and with his dad’s head too far up voldemort’s ass he could steal broken things . watches , things he’d find tossed in a box of a deceased old man’s belongings .

he takes apart those little machines mades of cogs and bolts and hes so curious . how can this make something functional ? it might make him more interested in magic , the spells full of linguistics from latin and a swish of a wand .

but as a pureblood , son of a death eater no less he cant express this fascination . thats why he laughs when draco mocks hermione’s blood but never starts the jokes himself .

im so tired so yes this is my theo . forever fighting for my life against the “everyone agrees theo is silly” headcanon .
