            UTAHIME BLINKED A FEW TIMES, still trying to shake the remnants of sleep from her mind. Choso’s words reached her, and she couldn’t help the small, APPRECIATIVE smile that tugged at the corner of her lips.

            "No. . . I'm alright," she murmured, though her voice still carried the tiredness of someone caught halfway between waking and dreaming. 

            "Thank you, Choso."

            Choso’s offer to let her sleep again made her think for a moment. She was tired, and the EXHAUSTION that had been creeping up on her all week had caught up. She almost considered leaning back against him. Maybe just a few more minutes wouldn’t hurt. But that would have been INAPPROPRIATE. She couldn’t use him like that — even if it would've been practical and what he said had made sense. She needed to be WELL - RESTED for the mission ahead.  She covered a yawn and glanced at her phone. They had about THIRTY MINUTES before they arrived in Tokyo.  

            That's enough time for me to gather my bearings.

            "You are kind to offer. But I should stay awake. Once we arrive at Tokyo, there'll be lots to do," she continued, leaning back a bit in her seat and looking over at Choso with a small chuckle.

            Did I make him uncomfortable. . . ?

            The thought made her smile WAVER. His eyes had narrowed slightly, and though his voice was polite, there was something about his tone that told her she had put him on edge. Maybe Choso wasn't keen on people invading his PERSONAL SPACE. . . surely he must have realized she hadn't meant to do that. I should say sorry again, in case I offended him. She couldn't afford him not wanting to cooperate with her later.

            "I'm very sorry, Choso. . ." Utahime apologized once more, her tone properly APOLOGETIC.

            "It won't happen again," she added, opening up the mission report on her phone AND looking it over to ensure everything was in order. She tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear and DELIBERATELY moved so that their shoulders were no longer touching. Just to be sure she wasn't in his PERSONAL SPACE. Hoping this would ease any discomfort or uneasiness she may have caused, Utahime gave him a reassuring smile. "I promise you I'm not usually this incompetent," she finished, returning her gaze back to the mission briefing on her phone.

            "Are you all caught up on the mission details, or would you prefer I go over everything with you ?"

            Their target was a CURSE USER. He wasn't a Special Grade, but he was still dangerous. A Curse User known for his VIOLENT CRIMES on sorcerer women.

            Utahime was to be the BAIT. They had originally wanted to send another female sorcerer, but after a meeting with the HIGHER - UPS and an exchange of information about the killer's patterns, it was decided that Utahime was the better fit. She was one of the more EXPERIENCED Jujutsu Sorcerers, and had both the rank to draw the target in — and the highest chance of surviving an encounter with him. He was known to keep higher - ranked women ALIVE for a longer period of time.

            The details had been DISCLOSED earlier that morning, and she had been quick to accept the mission.

            It was an honor to be entrusted with something of such importance, though her decision hadn't gone without some OBJECTIONS. Shoko had been against her going — not because she wasn't strong enough, but rather, because the nature of the case was DISTURBING. The idea of Utahime being used as bait didn't sit well with her.

            IN FACT, Shoko had argued that there was no reason Utahime had to be the bait. But Utahime knew that her friend had just been concerned. It was a blessing Gojo wasn't in the country. Otherwise, he'd likely have done something stupid, like TRY to take the mission out of her hands. Gojo was super ANNOYING like that sometimes. Acting like he had a SAY over her actions and decisions when it came to her sorcerer work.

          But the higher - ups had ORDERED her. There was no room for questioning it.

            Orders were orders.

            If she was honest with herself, Utahime did feel a little nervous. She had been on missions involving Curse Users before, and most had been SUCCESSFUL — with little to no problems — but the stakes were always high, and the danger was often more DIFFICULT to predict.

            They said she could take a backup of her choosing. That had been how she'd chosen Choso.

            It was a good OPPORTUNITY for him. This was his chance to prove himself. To prove that he wasn't just a CURSE. To gain the trust of the Higher - Ups and earn his FREEDOM as a human being. There was only so much Utahime could do as his handler. But the higher-ups needed to see for themselves, and Choso needed to prove his worth to them.

            It was the only way his humanity would STOP being called into question.

            She had made a case for him, and though INITIALLY the higher - ups had disagreed, they eventually RELENTED to her request. She'd been unexpectedly ADAMANT in the matter, and her PERSISTENCE had paid off.

            Utahime had been surprised by Choso's quick agreement to join her. She had thought for sure he'd at least ask why she'd picked him, but he'd accepted, no questions asked. She'd debated asking him why he had agreed to her request, but then had decided against it. She chose to leave it alone. It didn't matter why he had agreed. The IMPORTANT thing was that he had, and it would benefit both of them. 

            In the case of her CAPTURE, Choso knew what his orders were. He wouldn't let something like emotion get in the way of the mission.

            LOS TABLONES DE MADERA DEL PASILLO DE LA ESCUELA TÉCNICA DE JUJUTSU DE TOKIO CRUJIERON SUAVEMENTE bajo las sandalias de Utahime, cada paso medido y rígido mientras se alejaba de la oficina del director con un fajo de expedientes de intercambio estudiantil apretados fuertemente contra su pecho — desesperada — por llegar a las puertas principales sin tropezarse con la única persona que siempre lograba que la sangre le hirviera.

            Su hakama tradicional ondeó bruscamente con su ritmo apresurado y SU MANDÍBULA SE TENSÓ CON FUERZA, pero el universo rara vez le concedía sus deseos ; un cambio repentino y familiar en la presión del aire hizo que se le erizaran los pelos de la nuca, obligándola a congelarse a mitad de camino al ver cómo una imponente figura de cabello plateado bloqueaba por completo el corredor con un aire de insoportable TRANQUILIDAD.

            Con los nudillos blancos por la tensión y su energía maldita chispeando bajo la superficie, Utahime le clavó una mirada feroz y espetó, CON UNA VOZ LO SUFICIENTEMENTE AFILADA como para cortar vidrio antes de que él pudiera siquiera abrir la boca :

            "¡ ¡ ¡ QUÍTATE DE MI CAMINO, GOJO ! ! ! Tengo un tren que perder y ¡ NO estoy de humor para ninguna de tus niñerías hoy !"

Following the summer trend, I've commited a purge and if you read this, you have survived it!!

Got tired of seeing people perpetuating negativity on my dashboard, and character hate for no good reason. We are here to vibe and have a good time together!! Not that we need a reason to clear our followers list, but I do not care to see other peeps hate boners.

Utterly miserable behavior.

Here to say that, today I'm off work and I want to write.

A small reminder that I have a total of six active blogs. Utahime's the primary, the other five are side blogs under her feet. If I seem inactive, I might not be. My hyperfixations hit, and when you have little time for yourself, you enjoy whatever feels funnest in that moment. I love Utahime the most. She can take over my free time like no other muse can.
