The world can be ugly, but isn't it beautiful?

So, I never use tumblr anymore and therefore don't care about followers. I just need to shit and get if off my chest and I might get hate or lose followers or whatever by I literally don't care. I was gonna do a "read more" but idk how to do that on my phone so whatever. I honestly don't understand why racism is a thing. Like, it's 2017.... why is this still happening? What sucks about shit like this (in addition to all of the obvious things) is that people continue to get lumped into other stereotypes which is unhelpful with having/gaining mutual respect and understanding. White supremacists/KKK/anyone protesting on that side are excluded from the above statement. Zero excuses, you're an absolute piece of shit that gives all of us white folks a bad name when your ignorant ass thinks you're better than anyone else. You're. Not. You're literally the absolute worst in every possible way. But here's the thing....I consider myself a republican. This day in age it almost seems like republican and millennial are oxymorons. Just because I have that "label" doesn't mean I'm a racist/bible-loving/homophobic/trump-supporting piece of shit. Quite the opposite, actually. I consider myself socially liberal and fiscally conservative... and when having to lump myself in a label, I end up leaning slightly more to the right. But I feel like the world has forced me to be ashamed of the way I think, when in all reality everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. This doesn't make me a shitty person. I work with people in treatment for mental illness and chemical dependency, many of which are homeless, and even more of which are in need of government funding. I guess what I'm saying is, I wish the world would stop assuming the worst in people, and lumping people into groups or categories. Talk to someone "different" than you are. Different race, gender, economic status, sexual orientation, religion, political views. Become educated. Learn without judgement. Grow without belittling others. Understand that our uniqueness is what can unite us.
