Some kind of win

  He looked down. The fog gave him no clue as if there was something under the tender rope that separated him from freedom. Only death. His choice was to die in the castle as a slave or risk his life and die on the other side as a free man. Slowly, he pressed with his left foot the rope tied at his end to the old iron hammer that he had rooted between two heavy stones. None of this gave him any confidence. As if the clouds reflected the haste of the enemies behind him, they had covered the moon. The end of the rope was no longer in sight, as his dreams of getting out of here alive. For the past three years, the damp air of the caverns below the castle did not make him feel as far away from freedom as he felt now. He threw his small torch down in the chasm, hoping to see the end of the passage but after two moments he dared not look down to follow the flame as it was going deeper into the darkness. He took in his hand the axe he stole from the guard he killed hours ago and slowly stepped, with his left foot, his lucky foot, onto the rope. At the end of the world, an empire was awayting for a king, and yet, no one was here to see his courage.

People looked towards the sunset. As the sun was setting down inside the newly constructed eye, a glimmer of light appeared above the now red ball of warming light, right in the middle of the eye. At first it was but a spark but in mere seconds it outshone the sun and the entire eye was enveloped in a field of white, milky plasma. The gate was now open.

The light was blinding but souls looked up with tears of joy in their eyes. Instant travel between the new homeworlds was now possible.
