   Heavy lids dip to veil the exhausted dullness of irises, inexorable in spite of resistance offered ( fuck fuck fuck, don’t fall asleep ). Tidus teeters perilously on his feet, vicious in his refusal of surrendering to unconsciousness while Prompto is here. Only thing he can guarantee is that he’ll wake up alive; little fucker wouldn’t risk rendering Shuyin vessel-less ( whose life would they ruin together then? )   “-Ugh.” Irritation shoved into an exhale of a sound; a tightening of the fists; a wary inch nearer to the couch. He’s not going near the bed ( the thought of Prompto is not permitted to share headspace with the thought of the bed; they’re incompatible. Too compatible. Not that location seems to matter to this guy... )   A huff and he flings himself to the couch at Prompto’s side. “I’m going to sleep; get out. Don’t know what you two did while he was in charge but I’m exhausted. And before you open your mouth, I don’t want to know.”   The piece of shit hasn’t moved: stubbornly invading Tidus’ space. Eyes are closed but he can imagine the sharp, cat-sly grin stretching that mouth. There’s a purr of sound: some remark made in return ( Tidus’ mind’s tumbling into sleep, beyond applying meaning to noise ).   Sleep.   -      When sleep’s veil lifts - when awareness crawls in - it’s warm. Too warm. Like sunlight roving his skin; like cocoons of blankets. Instinct’s blade’s dulled by slumber, leaving him to fend for himself against the heady invitation of comfort.    Tidus... nuzzles.    Yes; a nuzzle to the bone-melting warmth of his pillow. A snuggle closer. A soft, contented breath of a sound. Fingers curl into fabric ( a shirt? The couch? ) and for a lulling instant, he dozes.   It’s the thrum of a heartbeat that inspires panic.   It’s the rise and fall of the too-hard-to-be-a-pillow thing beneath him. It’s the realisation that one of his legs is trapped beneath the weight of a limb that’s not his own - that his hip’s aligned with the bony jut of another’s. Worse: his fingertips are curled at that hip, where the shirt has ridden up, and he’s touching bare skin--   “Shit.” A hiss; a whisper ( please don’t wake him ). Doesn’t take a genius to figure out who he’s snuggled up to. Stomach twists; chest flutters. Morning wood’s not helping the situation.    The chest beneath him shakes with laughter.   “...Good fucking morning,” Tidus sighs, defeated, and cannot even summon the energy to shift himself away.
