The Vytal festival. A time to celebrate togetherness by punching each other in the face. Qrow could get behind that. A winner take all brawl? What could be better? Probably for it not to be held in the chilly city of Atlas. Look, Qrow grew up in Minstral. And though the Kingdom held a wide swath of land that included many climates, Qrow’s tribe had always preferred the warmer areas. 

So, walking along the elegant pathways that led to the arena (Atlas had really pulled out all the stops this year) was made all the harder by the large, bustling coat that Qrow had been bestowed by Summer. It was her attempt to keep him warm; She knew that otherwise he wouldn’t wear one at all. It was huge. One of the nylon bubble ones that went out of fashion years ago. And, not to mention, bright red. 

For all it’s bulk it still wasn’t that warm. But Qrow knew that Summer would slay him if he managed to peel it off his body. So here he was. Stumbling down the walk way, barely able to see in the coat that covers him. And of course his semblance gets the better of him. And of course he rams straight into someone, sending them both hurtling down, down, down the rest of the way. 

“ It most certainly is, “ Ozpin made no attempt to hide the smile that came with Qrow’s obvious embarrassment. His own cheeks gained a pink hue as he flipped the collar of his shirt outwards slightly, “ I am not any better off, I assure you. You are right though, we should leave. “

He fixed his collar and left the room as quickly as his sore body would allow him. On the way to the elevators, he took a glance at the doors on the rest of their floor to see they were on what he assumed was the top floor. Thankfully, the hotel itself didn’t seem to be anything special, so it couldn’t have been too expensive.

In the elevator was what looked like a room service employee, a speaker sitting on their cart that they used to hold open the doors for the pair. They paused suddenly to take a good hard look at Ozpin before snickering, “ Weren’t you carrying that dude there with ya’ like a bride last night? Man, what did y’all do? “

As soon as the doors shut behind them, he gave Qrow a look of desperation, “ You have to kill me. “

“Only if you kill me first,” Qrow mumbles, leaning against the wall of the elevator. His hand goes for his flask, but falters when he finds nothing there. Damn it. Instead he rummages in his pocket for his scroll. Preferring to have at least something in his hands. The employee’s words almost stun Qrow. Ozpin had been carrying him? Well, Qrow was more lanky than he was heavy but Qrow had always considered himself the um ... dominant type.

It was supposed to be quick and painless. Qrow was to function on his own within Mistral’s territory and report back to Oz as soon as possible. Simple. Easy. Especially for one who could turn into a bird at will. It was, in fact, so easy that he’d been good natured about it. He’d stopped in at Haven to let Leo know that he’d be in the area.

The headmaster had bulked at him running around the country side on his own. Something about making sure resources were “properly handled and distributed.”

Yeah, right.

So he’d been assigned a partner. A woman by the name of Libra that he’d heard about through the grapevine. One of the professors at Haven. He had no doubt in her abilities, no. But she couldn’t turn into a bird could she? And that just slowed him down.

Great.

My Family: Time to. Call? To. Be on phone? For an Hour?

“Stop.” The blade is inches from the other man’s throat. Qrow stares down at him. Red eyes trying to discern if he was going to attack again.They are both beaten. They are both tired. But Qrow would be damned if he wasn’t going to take this man alive. One of Salem’s agents for sure. Especially with how he fought. So reckless. But he was good. Almost too good. Somehow, he’d managed to get the jump on Qrow. Which would have been impressive if it weren’t for his semblance causing him to miss. 

This mission was a flop anyways. There was no enemy movement in this forest. Well, except for this silver haired man. But Qrow had the sinking suspicion that he was here for him not some pre-approved plan from Salem or someone under her.

Hmmmm for Mercury I think it might be interesting to do my “The Wrong Path” AU. With Qrow and Merc on the same side it would be interesting to explore the dynamic. Could either of them get the other to escape Salem and return to the path of good? Or would they both be doomed? I feel like Qrow would take on a more Mentor like role, almost like he does with Ruby.

❝Oh dear… ❞

The more Qrow swiped though the pictures, the more Ozpin’s face paled. It seemed they had quite the adventure after what started as a birthday party. He did wonder who’s house they had been at, as he could remember someone suggesting they throw the party. But what he had expected wasn’t something that one would see on TV. He could only vaguely remember there being far too many professional huntsmen and huntresses there who at first he had thought should be working. It seemed that didn’t occur to him again as the night went on.

He had thought his days of partying and doing reckless things had stopped much earlier in his life, but old habits did die hard.

❝At the moment that does seem like our best option. Do you think we’d be able to leave now, or are we too messy? ❞ He sighed and made his way back to the door. With a quick look over Qrow he pointed to the side of the man’s neck,  ❝You have a little bit of something there…❞ 

Qrow was about to respond when he put his hand to his neck. He winced in pain, tearing his hand away as he fought the blush that attempted to creep up his cheeks. “That’s a hickie.” He tries to keep a straight face but it’s almost impossible. Please. Let him die right here. Rather than face the embarrassment that this day would obviously bring.

He coughs into his hand, before turning to Ozpin. “I think we look ... fine.” A bit rumpled. This was going to be a walk of shame to anyone with two functioning eyes. But for their purposes they looked okay. “We should head out. Find where that tattoo shop is.” And maybe get his wallet back. Hopefully they would get Ozpin’s scroll back before one of their enemies did.
