GAUCHE is finally up and ready for EDGEWAVE (hosted by @crazy-hazy-sims, thank you!!) Officially the worst band you'll ever listen to, everyone wonders how they even got invited to perform... One questions if Gaia's mother, THEE frontwoman of experimental & punk band Major Ruin, has had anything to do with their surprising attendance. Does nepotism have a place at Edgewavefest? Will they get booed off the stage entirely?
GAIA (27) was born and raised in NYC and believes “sounding good” should be the least of a musician's problems. Having grown up on Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone's best, she's developed a talent for translating her (many) heartbreaks into their own frequencies. Not sure her bass agrees, though...
BONES (32) (by @butterflystitched), infiltrating GAUCHE straight from the Juggalo scene, mostly disagrees. He brings the band down from the intense, soul-pouring performance back to a manageable rhythm with his nonsensical adlibs, crude humor, chaotic riffs and devil-may-care attitude. This one's a rockstar, alright.
NEFER (?) just appeared one day, their truck loaded with the biggest metal drum kit in the country, and joined. No one knows them and no one tries to. They're a fan favorite (at the local diving bar and on their growing Youtube page) thanks to their intense focus. They bite their tongue so regularly they stopped trying to wipe it off. Godspeed!
FREDERIC (28)... is there. Sometimes. He switches between a saxophone, a keyboard, and a guitar as need be. If he's lucky, the local thrift store let him play their demos and hang around to flirt with the hipster clientele distribute flyers for their once-in-a-blue-moon gig.
WANDA (49) (by @plumbobbrainrot) is the newest addition, and frontwoman. Her back-and-forths between her classically-trained opera voice and her deafening banshee fry screams are a signature move. She gladly empties her retirement savings to house and feed the 4 'youngins' she now considers her found family after her wife's death.

And if I just become my own nemesis and wipe everyone's lore from the past two years and rework it then what 🤔

Heyy!
I was wondering if you knew how people would edit their hair, I know they use a type of hair strands brush but I still don’t know how they draw it.. like this for example
Hi there!
I'm not entirely sure what other people use for their own hair editing, I can only speak to mine. I recommend reaching out directly to the creator (nerissach on IG in this pic) if you have questions about their specific style, because asking me how [insert Simmer here] edits is sort of like someone asking Picasso about Van Gogh's painting techniques!
A lot of people in this community unfortunately have been using AI apps to help them with hair editing and then sometimes painting extra strands, so it's hard for me to tell what she does. She definitely paints extra strands in though, likely in Procreate or Ibis Paint.
Personally, I draw all of my hair in Procreate using these brushes: https://sandrawintherart.gumroad.com/l/bebHE
I usually start from dark color to light (eyedropper tool on existing hair), bigger brush size to block out the hair first, then smaller size to draw the strands, using Thick Hair Brush #8 in that pack. Make sure to use a variety of color shades and not just 1 color or else the hair will look flat.
When I have the majority drawn, I like to add flyaways in a lighter color around the head.
In the brighter areas to add shine, I use a light color in Overlay with a soft brush to paint a glow, then blur it. Then in an Add layer I make a little squiggle over each Overlay section, blur it, and turn the opacity down. That's how I get my hair to look nice and shiny.
So basically: Block, Blend, Strands, Flyaways, Glow
It definitely takes practice and patience, so don't feel discouraged if it doesn't click right away. I recommend watching some YouTube tutorials on hair painting too. I do have one, but it's outdated and was for MM hair.
Hopefully this helps, but if you have further questions on my process, please let me know! <3

hi guys! it's been a minute and half. lots of things have gone down in the last *checks notes* year since I've posted. some bad, some great. one of the latter things being: I published a book!
I know a lot of my old flames are inactive here, but to anyone still around who reads this and used to enjoy my stories back in ye old simblr hay day, y'all really gave me the courage to pursue publishing. so, I spent the last year and a half working on my debut novel, Chosen of the Moon, which is now available on Amazon in ebook & paperback. It's a (dark) MM/BL epic fantasy with lots of Celtic/Norse vibes and... you know, boys kissing (except not cuz it's a slow af burn but), I'll drop links below in case anyone wants to check it out!

Thank you soooo much!! That was helpful!
Of course! I love helping. If anyone has other Blender questions, feel free to ask!
I did make a full rendering tutorial but I don't like how the picture in it turned out, so I need to find time to make a new tutorial lol so I'm really sorry that I am yet to release one.
I am happy to answer questions about my process in the meantime though!
Heyyyy! Your pics are amazing! I love the quality of them. I started sims about 4 months ago and still learning blender. I have a question tho. I notice this editing tool in a lot of pictures… do you know how to add these blac lines. Is it Gshade or photoshop??
Hii!! Tysm for your kindness, it means a lot! Blender is definitely intimidating and stressful to learn, and I still feel like I'm way behind other creators who render.
For outlines, I paint them on in Procreate on my iPad using a brush tool that has high motion smoothing enabled. I do it by hand because I prefer to make different colored outlines based on the item I'm outlining rather than have everything be black if that makes sense. I also like to do white/light-colored rim lighting in places too, so for my editing style, doing it by hand just works better for me.
To have them done for you in Blender, I recommend this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqmQjgp5LRc
The downside is that you can only have 1 solid color with it and you can't really fully customize how you want the lines drawn and where. It's sort of like anywhere Blender detects an edge, an outline is drawn. But a lot of my friends use this and their pics turn out nice regardless.
In the picture shown, it's hard to tell if it's the Blender shader or hand-drawn, but I'm pretty sure they used the Blender shader and then drew in lighter lines on the inside of the black with an Overlay/Add/Screen layer mode.
Hope this helps!
