As they begin to reveal that Vecna himself is searching for Will, lots of GA members are actually catching onto this. Even joining in to theorize that Will is casting fireball in that last shot because of the accompanying “found you” voice over.

I don’t need to preach too much because there’s a thousand other posts out there. But. Will has been hiding in the shadows the entire series, trying not to draw too much attention upon himself or divulge what actually happened to him in the Upside Down (if he remembers). Him having repressed powers is a natural conclusion of this arc.
