From where he’s standing as Ran unraveled the body covered in blankets, he could already tell that Cantus isn’t breathing. The body doesn’t have any life to it. A breath nor beating of the heart could be sensed by Ayato, and he assumes the body would have been like that for awhile. But the body hasn’t started to decay or stiffen fully just yet, so it couldn’t have been too long sine Cantus’ heart stilled.
“Don’t need to. Could already tell that he’s not breathing. That’s why I asked if he’s dead.”

❝ r--right... shii--nii--san's cantus' personality so basically... he's still cantus--nii--san in a way. ❞ ran muttered, a hand scratching the back of his neck with a more likely confused expression. neither of eva or ran get it either. out of all three of them, you'd think ran was cantus' personality and shii was maris' ; apparently not.
