Just read the manga like two months ago, who would’ve thought it would get an anime release this year. Hopefully it’ll get more popular from it, its soo underrated. I rly recommend on reading it, or watch the anime when it releases, if you’re interested on dystopian sci-fi stories with eco-horror (humans get turned into plants basically)

in other (unrelated-to-my-current-brainrot) news, fool night is phenomenal. i read all the available chapters in one sitting and then stayed up staring at a wall.

i love you adult fiction. i love you stories that ask terrible questions and doesn't let you wiggle out from answering them. i love you fiction that says "inaction is also a choice you make".

i love you consequences. i love you characters having to face what they're willing to do in order to survive. i love you existential body horror!! i love you guilt and auto-destruction!! i love you good art. and good sequential art even more. i love you cinematic paneling!!

i love you breather moments that serve to to highlight just how miserable some of the choices the characters need to make are and how it just!! doesn't!! have to!! be like that!!!

i love you stories that talk about ecology and the end of the world as a past event!! i love you fiction that assumes that humanity will continue, for better or worse!! i love you fiction that understands that to be human is to move forward!! even if you have to crawl!!

so, yeah, read fool night, it's really good.

Something that stood out to me when listening to Hadestown is in 'A Gathering Storm' when Eurydice said to Orpheus, "We need food. We need firewood." And he didn't respond to her because he was working on the song.

The lack of visual (bc I was just hearing the audio) made it seem like he's up in his own head and ignoring her and the whole world altogether. The storm ultimately led to Eurydice's death, and Orpheus didn't even hear her calling out to him.

As an 'artist' that admittedly had been obsessed with a project to the point of ignoring my loved ones and even my own health, that part hits a little too hard. At that moment, he may have loved Eurydice, but he is obsessed with finishing the song.

Obsession overtaking your life is something scary to think about because it can ruin many things for you. Your job, your relationships, your health. The problem is that people don't ask to be obsessed with something. It just happens. It happened to Orpheus, and it cost him his lover.

Idk if I'm reading into the song correctly but that's how I feel about it.
