Reminder
Your body isnât trying to kill you. Your body is trying hard to survive. It has the wrong blueprint, it lost the manual, but itâs trying.
Your body is working the only way it knows how, it is trying so hard to keep you alive. Your body is not the enemy, it is the battlefield.
Itâs okay to resent your body, itâs okay to not love your body because it doesnât function like others do.
But remember your body is fighting hard for you, even when it doesnât seem like it.
Because it makes me feel better every time
Hi Iâm terrified
I am in so much pain. I am so tired. I am doing everything I can to make myself better and I fear I am just making myself worse. I got referred to a specialist just in time and Iâll be seeing them today. I hope they can help me but Iâm worried they wonât know how. I donât know what to do but I do know I canât go on like this.
what if i told you that a lot of âAmericanizedâ versions of foods were actually the product of immigrant experiences and are not âbastardized versionsâ
Thatâs actually fascinating, does anyone have any examples?
Chinese-American food is a really good example of this and this article provides a good intro to the history http://firstwefeast.com/eat/2015/03/illustrated-history-of-americanized-chinese-food
I took an entire class about Italian American immigrant cuisine and how itâs a product of their unique immigrant experience. The TL;DR is that many Italian immigrants came from the south (the poor) part of Italy, and were used to a mostly vegetable-based diet. However, when they came to the US they found foods that rich northern Italians were depicted as eating, such as sugar, coffee, wine, and meat, available for prices they could afford for the very first time. This is why Italian Americans were the first to combine meatballs with pasta, and why a lot of Italian American food is sugary and/or fattening. Italian American cuisine is a celebration of Italian immigrantsâ newfound access to foods they hadnât been able to access back home.

Guess who just narrowly escaped a one-sided relationship?
I recently relearned that even if you love someone that does not mean they should be a part of your life. So now I will be going through everyone I know and Marie kondo-ing the shit out of them. I will be asking myself the following questions and I suggest you do the same.Â
Do they bring me joy?
Do they reciprocate love and attention?
Do they initiate contact a good bit of the time?
Does our relationship have healthy boundaries?
Can I be open emotionally with them?
Do they support me?
Do our conversations focus on them?
Do they make me feel guilty or like I need to apologize for little things?
Do they make me feel self conscious?Â
Do they minimize my struggles?
Do they make me feel bad about myself?
If the answer is no to any of the questions on top, or yes to any of the questions on the bottom, reconsider staying in the relationship. If you still want to keep that person a part of your life, consider more boundaries or distancing them from you. Also try to be aware of yourself- these questions should go both ways.
Laziness: Iâd rather sit here than pick up those clothes
Executive Dysfunction: I need to pick up those clothes I need to pick up those clothes why am I still watching this thing on Netflix while sitting down câmon stand up I need to pick up those clothes I need to pick up those clothes I need to-
Holy shit you nailed it
Laziness:Â I donât want to do the thing so Iâm not going to do the thing and Iâm not going to worry about it because I donât care.
Procrastination: Iâm purposely putting off doing the thing because I donât want to do the thing and this may or may not be causing me anxiety depending on how important the thing is.
Executive Dysfunction:Â I may or may not want to do the thing but regardless I canât seem to do the thing and it is causing me great anxiety because the thing needs to be done.

Doctor: youâre underweight / overweight. thatâs [price]
Doctor: idk lol. thatâll be [insert price] thanks
Doctor: it could be this, this, this, this, this, this or this and we have no way of telling. [price]
Doctor: youâre making it up. [appointment price]
Doctor: weâve run 15 different blood tests and a urine test and a stool sample and everythingâs fine so idk. [insert cost of appointment and all tests]
Doctor: i have the exact same symptom(s) and i have no idea either so if you find out, can you tell me too? also thisâll be [insert price]
Doctor: *calls other doctors into room to look at results* *confused mumbling* âŚweâll get back to you on that. come back next week. [ends up with two or more follow-up appointments]
Doctor: if this was the first time you had these symptoms, Iâd call an ambulance for you right now. But since itâs normal for you now, I wonât worry, but you might want to just have the hospital on speed dial. oh yeah hereâs the price

NO FUCK OFF IâM A LEAF
Itâs rare disease day! đŚ There is a common phrase among doctors that when you hear hoof beats think horses not zebras. What they frequently forget is that zebras are real. 1 in 10 Americans have a rare disease and only 5% of rare diseases have a FDA approved treatment plan. Many rare diseases are overlooked, misunderstood and mistreated. We need more awareness and with it hopefully more treatment options. I have a rare disease called Ehlerâs Danlos Syndrome and a not rare but rarely know condition called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. EDS is a group of connective tissue disorders, our collagen is defective. Collagen is a major component of the human body. This causes a wide variety of multi-systematic symptoms. EDS is incredibly hard to diagnosis and not widely known. It is extremely hard to for doctors who are not educated in EDS to put together symptoms like constant nausea, dislocations/subluxations, hyper-mobility and easy bruising (just to name a few). Rare diseases effect millions of people around the worldâand today we celebrate those with rare diseases while pushing for more awareness and research! đŚđŚđŚ
