Here it is! The picture I’ve slaved over for almost a week now. At first, this was just a contest to me. Something that was just a fun thing to do, something to enter and be like ‘Yay, that was fun. On with my life.’ But it’s something more than that. As I did this picture, I mulled over everything I’ve done in Mabinogi. All the friends I’ve made, all the experiences I’ve had, and all the memories I’ve made. It’s all thanks to this game. This one game that has so greatly impacted my life. I started playing this game the summer of my entry into Highschool… now I’m 25 and graduated college looking into so many prospects and avenues for my life to go that I can’t keep my head straight. But there was always one thing that was around if I needed something to do, or needed a good belly laugh. I had Mabinogi. It was where I’ve met so so many of my friends, most of which are still my friends today. I’ve lost a few and that always saddens me, but I know they’re out there somewhere with their lives as well, and I hope they look back fondly on it as I do. All of the memories surrounding Aria are one’s that really stick out of my head from these past 10 years playing the game. Giving Tarlach the mana herb, soaring over Iria for the first time. Being introduced to one of my best friends…and just the sheer happiness of knowing that I’ve been able to experience something so great and so life altering from one simple MMO. One simple game that hasn’t changed much, but has changed so many people in it’s time. That’s what this piece came down to. What was once just an endevour to participate in a contest has turned into an homage to something that means a part of my world to me. Thanks, Nexon.
