"I understand what you mean though," she says nonchalantly. My, how much she has grown from her own tragic past. This kind of talk would have spiraled her. She would have been raging. She's still angry and still sad, but....Time heals wounds, she supposes.

With that, Cayde takes in a mouthful of delicious noodles. Thank the Traveler he can actually eat, even though all this food goes nowhere in him. "Man I can never get enough of ramen!"

CAYDE-6 in Destiny 2: Forsaken

"Right? That's what I've been sayin'!" He's never uttered a word about this, ever. He just happened to hear the tailed lady's remark and well, intrusive thoughts got to the best of him. A frequent occurrence, really.

" my name is kara. " she counters tersely, bristling, " and i am not a child. "

he calls himself a ' guardian ', but of what? or of whom? is that supposed to mean something to her? before she has a chance to pursue that line of questioning, he takes it in an entirely different direction, to which she is obliged to answer.

But he's not one to keep poking at a sore spot. Okay, that's big fat a lie. He will absolutely poke at this sore spot in the future but right now, there's dreams where dreams shouldn't be.

"Well, Kara the kr-kryp... how do you say that? Creeptoe-- thing." Yes, Cayde. Very good. Bright blue optics followed her as she began circling him, noting a tinge of curiosity in her expression. Better than irate, he supposes. "Anyway, I happen to be a guardian of humanity, if you can believe it. We fight against the forces of Darkness that threaten the Sol System and-- okay, seriously how are you doing that?"

This time it was his turn to be intrigued, squatting and looking beneath her feet, rather tickled by her ability to hover. "Magnets? Strings attached to your waist? Weird creepytoenian powers? What even is a kripto--" He gasps, comically and dramatically.

a pause interjects, before kara snaps her head towards him as his words seem to sink in.

" if this is supposed to be a dream, then why would you be here? " she steps forward, pushing gently off the ground to hover, leveling her gaze with his, " i've never seen you before. "

leaning in, she examines him closely, furrowing her brows. she would definitely remember meeting someone like him, so the question remains: is he an invader, planning to corrupt her mind? or perhaps he is some kind of anomaly, and she is trapped by the black mercy?

but... why would father do that?

At her question and subsequent hovering, which definitely caught Cayde's attention, the Guardian shrugs nonchalantly. "Dunno! One minute I was minding my own business and the next, I find myself here. Apparently, this is a regular occurance here! How about that?"

He is far and away the absolute last person that can explain away something like this. His head's unfortunately wired for 'shoot first, keep shooting and ask way, way later'.

"Kid you are in the presence of the one, the only, Cayde-6. Ah, ah, hold for applause. No need for that." Not that she would know who he is. Or what he's done. In fact, that might just add more to her confusion.

Yumine nods. Unfortunately, they were all brought here against their will, weren't they? Good things came with it though! "I may know of a good place, actually." And now she's made it her PERSONAL mission to find him the best ramen place in Isola Radiale!

"A pleasure to meet you Cayde-6," she places a hand on her chest with another light bow this time. his question though, certainly has her feeling all warm inside. "No, you'd be right. There aren't many." In fact, weren't Cayde-6 and Ramattra the only ones? At least the only ones she's met.

"He's a dear friend of mine," She starts with a smile, "and his name is Ramattra. I believe you'll meet him soon enough. Please tell him I said hi when you do." He didn't have to, of course. Regardless, she gestures for Cayde-6 to follow as she starts heading down the way.

And that was so much more true here in this strange place he inwardly calls his limbo. "Do you now? Well I'll hold you to that. It better be good ramen! Old Caydey knows his ramen, you'd best believe."

"Black mercy? That a new fancy drink?" Cayde asked, watching as the girl struggled with whatever the heck was going on with the island at the moment. "Oh! Oh! Is it a weapon? Please tell me its some kinda gun we can get our hands on."

Corvus falls silent. She chews on her inner cheek, mismatched hues lowered. "We were able to save a few, but...we lost a lot of people." No matter how many you evacuate, you can't save everyone.

This place? This is his limbo.

"Hmm." Cayde met her answer with silence, mulling over the information. Nothing he hasn't experienced before. Casualties, that is. He lived many wars and many lives lost for centuries. Still didn't ease the sting he felt each time.

amidst his lament, it seems the omnic has found himself contemplating a seat at the bar, for what good it will do. not that he could consume any of the alcoholic beverages it has to offer, but the prospect of some peace and quiet remains---

❝ ... BEG PARDON? ❞ he stirs from his daze long enough to answer the stranger, whom, upon proper inspection, appears jarringly like... an omnic.

Still only second to him when it comes to charm though. Speaking of charm...

"Buddy you're gonna start scaring away the ladies if you keep acting like that!" Cayde pointed out, signaling to the bartender to give him another glass. In no time at all, the glass is delivered, the alcoholic drink within glistening. "Here, for tall, dark and only-second-to-me-handsome over here. That'll help you relax. Loosen up those stiff joints of yours."
