the fading rays and the dusky air whisper a promise to me, a promise that this too shall pass.
i awake to golden streams of light falling on my face; the sun leaving its last goodbyes of dusk on my tired eyes. my body sinks into its bedsheets, comfortable and unready to leave yet. my mind wanders to the stresses that brought me here, but i dont care about them; i walk downstairs, everything is guilded in the same golden light that awoke my tired eyes. its funny, i never really noticed what my house looks like during golden hour. the way the sun's golden honey drips onto the piano keys or the arm of the chair. im sitting in an armchair on my porch and the very last of the sun is piercing my eyes as i try to capture this fleeting moment of peace. as i feel the summer breeze on my skin, a promise of school letting out soon, friends hanging out soon, vacations being had soon, peace being had soon, i realize that maybe everything will work out. as i slowly awaken i can feel life's stresses coming back to me once again but this time they have no grip on me, not like they did. but while the sun is setting and im saying goodbye to the day, i think i will be fine, even if it doesnt feel like it. i will never be able to describe the certainty and peace that was brought to me just now, just temporarily. but i think that just like the sun setting and leaving its golden goodbye shining on your tired eyes, all good things must come to an end. but there is promise of morning: if all good things must come to an end, then surely all bad things must come to an end, too. the fading rays and the dusky air whisper a promise to me, a promise that this too shall pass.
