my one true love

I like Sontails. It’s been a long time ship for me, one of my first OTP’s (despite me not really being that fanatic or into ships in awhile). This blog was a place for me to be peaceful, a safe haven for those who like and enjoyed Sontails. And, again, I still like Sontails. I think there is nothing inherently wrong with it, when you get down to the specifics. There’s lots of arguments to be made, and I’ve always been of the opinion that people that see Sonic and Tails as brothers, or Tails as a very, very young child, and are therefore uncomfortable with Sontails, should NOT expose themselves to that content, and who aren’t “wrong” for their discomfort (my best friend is extremely uncomfortable with Sontails).

… But my problem comes with people that both ship Sontails and follow this blog for content I reblog.

On one hand, its people who overly sexualize them, with clear intent to make Tails infantized, or with clear vision that Tails is young or Sonic is taking advantage of him because of his age. On the other, people who ship Sontails follow that one opinion of “Fictional ships have no bearing on the real world and you can’t prosecute someone who shipping fictional characters”… When they’re shipping adults with children. We can run circles and circles on that argument, forever, just plain out it makes me uncomfortable. And honestly, I do think it’s wrong at the day of the day. No, you’re not a pedophile, or doing something terribly awful, but just because you’re not doing a grave misdeed doesn’t mean it’s not wrong, you know? It’s the nature that you can see two characters very clearly meant to be seen as an adult and a child as romantic potential. I know it’s hard to look into that, or to even consider you might be wrong. I’ve been there. I’m not here to tell you how to feel or what to do, you’ve heard all the opinions. But as someone who’s not going to rip off your head, maybe consider why you feel an adult and a child have romantic potential, and what that could be doing to you internally. Or not. Again, I can’t tell you how to tell or what to do. It’s easier to go with what you know even. I only say this as a consideration.

But… With all that said… Looking at the people who are apart of this community, and the people I’m supporting one way or another, I’m going to do something I’ve been thinking about for awhile. Something healthier for me, because being surrounded by people like this isn’t healthy for me. I’ll be deleting this blog in a few days or so.

Cheers to all of you who had the same view of Sontails as me (however few).Thanks for the fun times and memories. Good luck to the rest of you, if you want it. But, as shipping takes the back burner for me, and as I climb to a healthier place for me… Sontails ain’t important or worth defending for me.
