Fake Christmas Girlfriend ~ Jung Hoseok
It all seemed like a great idea at the time when Hobi suggested that you join him for Christmas rather than be alone. Even though they werenât your family, just getting to be around a family would be enough for you to enjoy your Christmas.
Even pretending to be his girlfriend didnât seem like the worst idea, the two of you were close enough to pretend and be able to convince people that your relationship was genuine.
But what you found hardest of all was lying to those people who were thrilled to meet you. Hobi had taken the time to introduce you to everyone, from long lost cousins to distant aunts, there wasnât a person in the room who didnât know who you were.
âYou seem like such a kind girl, Hobi is a lucky guy,â his sister told you as he introduced you, smiling softly towards her. His arm rested into the small of your back as you told her a bit about yourself. As nice as it was to meet them all, you couldnât help but feel guilty as you spoke.
Even Hobi was taken aback by how quickly his family warmed to you, he expected a quiet Christmas, a couple of days just to pretend, but it truly felt that already you were a part of the family with how quickly they all took to you being around.
It scared him more than anything how well you were all getting along, this was only a temporary thing, a fakery, it would be impossible to explain your sudden break up at this rate with how much his family were falling for you.
âY/N,â he whispered as you stepped away from his sister, smiling back at him. âCan you just be careful with how much you talk to my family? I love that they love you, but youâre my fake girlfriend, please remember,â he requested. You were slightly taken aback by his sudden instruction, brushing a hand through your hair, words failed you, spinning on your heels, you headed out of the back door, taking a seat in the garden.
He sighed dejectedly as he watched you walk away, the last thing he wanted was to make you feel bad, especially at Christmas. It was all supposed to be fake, but somehow it really was beginning to feel real to him.
After a few moments he grabbed a couple of drinks and made his way out into the garden where he found you sat on the picnic bench, placing a glass in front of you. You refused to move as he sat beside you, staring forwards, ignoring the drink heâd brought out for you too.
He hated the silence from you, he hated that he was so concerned with how you were feeling, youâd barely spoken two words to each other all year at the company, yet somehow youâd both ended up in such a crazy situation.
âI think Iâll go home,â you stated, looking down to the floor.
His head shook, being his girlfriend didnât phase him anymore, but he couldnât bring himself to imagine you being alone for Christmas.
âIâm so sorry,â he admitted, âI wasnât thinking about what I said to you.â
âYou told me to pretend to be a part of your family, so I did,â you huffed, shaking your head.
You went to stand up from the bench, but his hands grabbed your wrists, pulling you back down so you were sat right beside him, feeling your leg brush against his.
âPlease donât just walk away because of this,â he muttered, staring across at you.
You felt the bottom of your eyes dampen as he looked at you, this wasnât how Christmas was supposed to be for you, Christmas was never normally a drama for you.
âI donât want you to be alone at Christmas Y/N, you probably hate me, but like it or not youâre a part of my family this Christmas,â he reminded you.
You looked back for a moment at all the happy faces in the house, âyour family donât deserve to be lied to Hobi, you shouldnât pretend you like someone if you donât.â
âWho says that I donât like you?â
Your head tilted to stare at him, questionably looking at the small smile that was beginning to grow on his face. His hand moved from out of his lap to rest against your shoulder, squeezing lightly at your body.
Your head shook, looking between his hand and his eyes. âIâm not sure what youâre trying to tell me Hobi, but for once, please choose to be honest with someone.â
âCan I be honest with you?â He asked anxiously.
âThatâs all I want,â you reminded him.
He nodded, looking away from your gaze. âThe truth is, you were supposed to be here as my fake girlfriend, but seeing how much my family love you and how amazing you are with them all itâs made me wonder if this has to be fake? Is there a chance this could be real?â
âYou actually like me?â
He smiled up at you, confirming your thoughts. For months youâd caught his eye at the studio as you sat behind the desk, greeting him with warmth every morning when he came in, but now he was getting to know you personally, there was so much more he wanted to explore.
âI donât know whether itâs all the bucks fizz Iâve drunk talking, but I like having you around and I like that youâve fitted in so well tonight, not many people get on this well with my family usually.â
âMaybe Christmas really can work a miracle,â you joked, resting your hand over his.
Your touch sent a shiver down his spine as he looked across, making sure it was really happening. His heart raced as his eyes met you, all the anger youâd felt towards him had disappeared, it really felt like Christmas as he looked at you.
âI never intended to bring you here and offend you,â he whispered, âbut I also never intended to bring you here and fall for you. Iâve spent so long looking for someone to bring home to my parents, I never thought it would be the fake person I bought home to my parents.â
âYou didnât offend me Hobi, I understand why you said what you said.â
âItâs no excuse,â he clarified, âyou didnât deserve to be spoken to like that.â
You appreciated his remorse, resting your hand against his shoulder to try and keep yourself warm, closing the last of the distance between the two of you.
âYouâre a great guy Hobi, and maybe youâve just not found the right girl yet. Youâre lucky to have such an incredible family who support you in everything, I wish that I could be with mine right now.â
âWe can be your family this year,â he proposed.
You couldnât think of anything better to get you through the Christmas period, every person in the house had made you feel welcomed and comfortable just like your family at home did. It might not be the real thing, but it was better than nothing at all.
âMaybe now, we can be honest with your family about whatâs going on,â you pointed out, âI canât lie to them when theyâre so kind Hobi.â
âWe donât need to lie anymore; we can just be honest with them all.â
You pulled yourself away from his chest, bringing your hand up to cup the side of his face delicately. Before you had a moment to speak, his lips came down and pressed to yours sweetly, the cold had been forgotten about as his hands pulled your waist closer to him, keeping his forehead against yours as you pulled away from him. Your cheeks were red, not just from the cold, resting back into his chest to hide the deep blush you wore.
âThat was a good first kiss,â Hobi chuckled, pressing another to the top of your head, âmy first ever kiss at Christmas too,â he remarked, taking you by surprise.
âWhat about your second?â You teased, tilting your head to reach up to his lips once more, savouring the taste, despite the alcohol heâd drunk all night. âDo you think maybe we should head back in before we freeze?â
âI think thatâs a good idea,â he spoke, taking your hand and helping you up from the bench. You grabbed your glass as Hobi did the same, twirling you around so you stood in front of him. âHow about a toast, to the best Christmas yet?â
âThe best Christmas yet,â you cheered, clinking your glass against his. âIâm so happy to be here with you Hobi.â
âIâm happy youâre here too.â
