Honestly the only reason he could be hard to keep up with was his long stride. Most of the Brit’s height was in his legs than in his torso and so his step was naturally wide. So he can’t help but grin a bit when Kyle has to pick up the pace to catch up with him, finding it a little amusing. The walk itself is peaceful and he’s content but it doesn’t take more than the whisper of a note for him to know Kyle is humming. Blue eyes glance in his direction, the smile softening when the redhead begins to sing.
He waits until Kyle finishes his piece before his lips part. Gregory was very musical and loved to sing, so the chance to do so easily invited him in. He recognizes the song as well. So it’s hardly a surprise when he starts up when Kyle finishes.
“You don’t get what all this is about
You’re too wrapped up in your self-doubt
You’ve got that young blood, set it free.”
Truth be told… this was a song among many that Gregory often found a sense of piece with, its message powerful and one that resonated with him. It was easy to get lost in the notion of being nothing more than a neglected and unwanted child when he was younger, wracked with the doubts and fears that it was somehow his fault. Something he’d done to drive his parents away. Quietly he wonders if Kyle too feels a strong connection with the song itself.
“You’ve got it all, you lost your mind in the sound
There’s so much more: you can reclaim your crown
You’re in control, rid of the monsters inside your head
Put all your thoughts to bed: You can be King…”
the sad truth about the song is that kyle had once wanted to sing it to someone else. someone very special to him ... someone that had changed his life, that he had loved more than the moon & the sun & the stars. but ... time changes things. breaks them. time is merciless, & it’s time that kyle accepts that, isn’t it?
but god, he isn’t sure that he’s ready. he’s not sure that he ever will be ready. in fact contemplating it makes his heart hurt, so he chooses not to & instead just looks up at gregory with a wan little smile as he continues.
“ there’s method in my madness,
there’s no logic in your sadness.
you don’t gain a single thing from misery ...
take it from me. ”
he trails off after a moment, green eyes flicking down & away as the nerves start to creep in. he’s spent so long trying to change things for himself ... trying to make his life better, to escape the feelings of inadequacy that his mother had left him with ... & yet here he is, drowning in the effort of it all.
