Posted chapter one of my story to Ao3!

GOOD NEWS!! Dusk Over Kaalen is my passion project, created over the course of nearly three years now, with all of these things.
What started as a simple "wolf in sheep's clothing // sheep in wolf's clothing" prompt has become plans for an entire novel.
The goal is, disability willing, to publish a chapter every two weeks.
The story features a nearly entirely queer cast inspired by our real-world cultures and written with all the frustration of someone living through our modern times.

I loathe digging through wikis to find grainy, hard to download references for characters so when I make the site I'll be posting the story on I'll be making a tab specifically for their reference art.
Hi, I'm terrified of horses.
My character has a very large horse that rode into battle with her when she was on the front lines. Her name is Ilya. She now serves as a general transport and cart-pulling horse during the time of the story, and one of the few solid supports Cassie has from home. The two are very close and Ilya is well-pampered by her.
I did some cursory research and decided that horse was a Clydesdale because Cassie is fucking 6ft tall and I wanted a very large horse to match, and Clydesdales were used as cavalry horses during WWI.
I pulled references after deciding she's just extremely sturdy and pretty, but not particularly fast. I have no idea who either of these horses are, I just googled clydesdale.
My question, now, is does anyone have thoughts or opinions on how best to describe a Clydesdale like Ilya in writing? I know nothing. Is there a particular name for either of these coats? A better one you can think of? What do horse emotions look like? Just general thoughts?

Every time someone says "that's a lot of lore for one book series" I add two new myths and one new minor god.

I've been thinking about making a website and publishing my book a few chapters at a time for free, and offering early access via patreon or something.
I don't really want to fight with a publisher about content restrictions or book length, and I want my book to be as accessible as possible.
