You work at Shadow Company as a medic, and your father just so happened to be the commander, Phillip Graves. Usually he was very authoritarian with you, and you weren’t allowed to go out without supervision of other shadows or him a lot because of enemies targeting you, but this time he was more lenient because it was break, basically the whole shadow company would be partying, so here you were standing beside some shadows at a bar table as the club was busy filled with chatter about missions, shadows who miss home, and of course about New Year's.Along those chatters, there were a few drunk shadows mumbling incoherently, which was alright, they weren’t being a problem or injuring anybody or themselves, so you didn’t have to do anything!
Well, except for the fact a few of them were leaning like the Tower of Pisa at the moment, but at least they weren’t falling over, right? The bartender also seemed quite happy as he was getting paid a lot for letting the whole of Shadow Company celebrate here, plus he had people to chat with!
Suddenly the shadow beside you hands you a beer and says, “You should try this beer, it tastes sooo good!” ”. You politely decline and tell him, “Sorry, I don’t think I’d be allowed to, I have to stay sober, I’m the medic.” He nods in understanding, “Alright, got it. When you are allowed, though—” you cut him off, “Yeah, yeah, I’ll drink the beer, no worries!” You say with a giggle, and he also starts giggling at your response before walking away to go dance on the dance floor that they had at the club, which honestly was quite humorous as a lot of the shadows were dancing like kids on the dance floor and also because their dancing was terrible.
About 10 minutes later, another shadow approaches you and shoves a new closed beer towards you. By now you expect nothing to go wrong, plus a beer won’t hurt once in a while, so you take the bottle. “Thanks.” You respond to the shadow who pushed the beer towards you. You lift it up slightly below your face turning around the bottle to check the alcohol percentage and name. Snake venom. 67.5% alcohol??? Is this even still considered beer? You smolder at the shadow, quite upset that he gave you a high alcohol percentage beer.
“You’re back being sassy like Commander Graves, huh?” The shadow jokes back, honestly, it was quite amusing, but still, you decide to tell him to knock it off, “knock it off 2-6,” at which he immediately shuts up. Nice, but still, it’s really loud around you because of the party, you just need a drink to shut up your mind, so you take a big swig of the beer bottle, downing half of it in one go, then it clicks in your mind: you just drank around 85 grams of pure alcohol, as snake venom beer has 175 grams of pure alcohol in it.
You were so fucked if you got drunk now, Graves would definitely be even stricter, and it’s a dose that could cause alcohol poisoning, too late though, no takebacks, so you just accept it begrudgingly… You slowly sit down on a bench in the club, waiting for the alcohol to kick in. You were already starting to feel dizzy and tired, so you decided to go get some water at the bar, and you walked up to the bartender. “Y’all have any water for me?” You ask them while leaning on the counter because you were starting to get more and more dizzy putting one elbow on the bar counter to support your face as the other just rested in the bar table while the bartender nodded “sure! Sparkling or flat?” He asks you, you reply, of course, “flat.” After a minute he returns with a bottle of water and hands it to you “thank you.” And then you walk away back to the bench you were sitting on, you were still quite annoyed, and to be honest, the alcohol wasn’t helping with the noise, so you took a big gulp of water.
It tasted much better than the beer, refreshing even, not even a few minutes later, your vision started going blurry, and your thoughts were getting slurred, and your vision was going blurry. You started seeing a blurry figure… you could make out that he was wearing a suit and had some dirty blonde hair… You were squinting, trying to see who was approaching you, as the guy looked far away to you until you got intercepted mid-thought by a hand on your collar, lifting you up over the man’s shoulder. “What’re you doing, huh? “You drunk?” the voice sounded out, but it was kind of faint to you, but you could make out it was your father’s voice, Graves. Before you knew it, you were being hauled out of the club, but… the party wasn’t over, so you tried to mumble about the party still going, but Graves quickly responded, cutting you off with a chuckle as you guys got into the van you arrived with: “No, no, kiddo, it’s 4 AM, time to wrap up.” And you faintly heard some shadows chuckle behind you as Graves set you down next to him in the back of the van as he made one of his shadows drive while propping you up against his shoulder and chest.
After a bit he slowly takes out a BAC meter giving it to you while saying “blow into it.” So you do. On the little screen, it shows ‘BAC: 0.26%,’ which is right under the possible poisonous limit of alcohol. Graves lets out a disappointed but amused sigh as you start feeling dizzy as he reads out the number because at this point you didn’t understand a thing he said, just that you felt very angry for a reason you did not know, so you decided to start hitting stuff, including your father, Graves, but you didn’t realize this. But his other men were confused, why was the commander of a goddamn military company bearing a fist attack from his kid? But Graves gave them their answer fast enough: “Your punches are weak right now, you know?” Graves murmurs almost proudly while staring down at you as you suddenly change from punches to bear-hugging him as he gently puts his arm around you to keep you steady while riding in the car.
He moves his hand from your back to your head, softly rubbing your hair as you half-strangle him with your arms, trying to hold onto him very tightly. Meanwhile, all the shadows in the car, which were one driving, one next to graves, and one in the front passenger seat, look mildly concerned because of the obvious unexpected situation, and the one next to graves even looks like he just wants to jump out of the goddamn car. “Uhhh, sir…? Where are we going”.
Graves tries to reply back to him but you speak up before him affectively cutting him off “that’s nonofya business…! Jussst driveee!” You slurred drunkily at the shadow next to Graves. Graves almost facepalms at the moment he hears your slurring, but he was glad he could still hear your normal sass in your voice, which to him translated to that you were totally, completely fine and wouldn’t die of alcohol poisoning, so he rubs your head affectionately, still holding an arm around your back to support your bear hug as you keep clinging onto him.
You started feeling a bit dizzy, so you wanted to sleep. You felt like there were weights on your ankles, so you curled up even more than you already were. You lay your head in Graves’ neck and try to fall asleep, honestly it reminded graves a lot of when you were a small kid falling asleep on him to stop him from going anytime he’d try to go to his work back when he was part of the USMC and when he had to leave you with his own father Adler, who Graves himself found strict… it made him smile down at you softly, but as you were drifting off to sleep you felt an abrupt poke right in the curve of your neck and you instantly woke up from the sudden feeling of a poke in a sensitive spot and you look up to see a blurry face smiling at you, Graves? Probably, so you curl your arms around him.
But you looked around, and you were at a completely different location? Then you looked up your eyes still bleary but you could make out a shadow company logo in the corner of your eye, as you felt a soft mattress beneath your body, even though your mind was still fuzzy you could make out that you were somewhere in the shadow company base but before you could confirm that you felt a cold water locked cloth on your forehead and before you knew it you were being scooped up and into some type of kitchen, you could now confirm it was your father, graves caring for, you could feel his chine resting on your head as he rubbed you arms softly reassuring you as you lay into his chest you started falling asleep your eyelids slowly closing feeling tired from all the activity which honestly just was the alcohol in your system, Graves looked at you fondly, caringly moving your body onto his bed in his quarters.
After that, he also slowly crawled into the bed, pulling the blanket over the both of you like how he would sleep in your bed when you had night terrors as a kid because of what happened to you.
You felt very fuzzy but in a good way, slowly drifting into a deep sleep with your “father” protecting you, nothing could hurt you, right? Was he even really your father? Do you know for sure that he is? Are you sure you grew up with a good childhood? Do you know when he became your father? Has he always been your father?
eoughhh I like this if I have time I’ll make a next part
