the weather was absolutely perfect. the right amount of warmth and a cool breeze. seeing as the moon doesn't rise until late at night, you had the brilliant idea to go to the beach. haknyeon immediately agreed and picked you up in his car. as you were halfway to your destination, you and haknyeon’s stomach grumbled in unison. both of you started dying of laughter.

“wanna pick up some food first?” haknyeon let out a small chuckle.

“yes please,” you responded in delight. 

“a fast food place in mind?” haknyeon questioned.

you were craving inn & out. his attention to your mind allowed him to read what you were thinking, and that's how you knew he was your soulmate. 

“inn & out it is.” haknyeon started the engine and put his hands on the wheel. 

“this is why i love you.” you chimed.

“i love you too.” haknyeon rolled his eyes but then proceeded to hold your hand the whole ride to the drive-through. 

about 30 minutes later after ordering food, haknyeon found a cliff coast that was the perfect spot to see the ocean. definitely better than just sitting at the beach itself. haknyeon then popped open the back truck. in the middle between you and haknyeon, you prepared the food on the edge of the trunk. with food on the side and your boyfriend right next to you, everything felt like home. 

“oh babe i just remembered, someone from high school recognized me today. they kept telling me a lot of girls had a crush on me. even some guys.” haknyeon let out an airy laugh as if he had no clue about it. 

“well of course babe. you were mr. popular,” you informed him. “i had a lot of competition just to have you. it wasn’t easy.” 

haknyeon was dumbfounded but was quick to defend himself. “you were also every guy’s crush. i was the lucky one who got to date you.” he placed a kiss on your forehead. 

“i mean we both won prom queen and king. everybody knew i was yours at that point.” you laid your head onto his shoulder. 

“it was fun to see all their faces as they found out we were dating. i couldn’t believe i was dating the prettiest girl at school.” haknyeon reminisced. 

“hey! how about now.” you pouted. 

“you’re the prettiest girl in the whole world.” he squished your cheeks. 

“oh, my little high school sweetheart.” you turned your head, keeping your chin on his shoulder, looking up at your fiance. he was still the same boy you fell in love with back in high school but now he was yours forever.

it was late night when you made yourself a cup of hot chocolate. you decided to catch up on your shows during your break and it was the perfect day to do so. it was cold all throughout the house and you prepared all your heavy weighted blankets on the couch already. when you had finally found a cozy spot, you could see the headlights of a car parked outside your house. as you squinted your eyes to read the license, you immediately recognized the owner of the car. it was none other than your boyfriend. what was he doing here? he never mentioned visiting.

you lazily put on some shoes before heading out the front porch. in response to your approach, he opened the passenger window and leaned forward while holding the steering wheel with one hand.

“do you know how cliche you look right now.” you lightly teased him.

“maybe,” he replied with a cheeky smile.

“okay pretty boy, what are you doing outside my house without telling me,” you questioned your boyfriend who decided to show up at 11 pm.

“it’s the perfect time to watch the stars and i wanted to see them with you.” he chimed. juyeon then leaned over, even more, to open the door for you. “come in my lady.”

upon entering the car, you ruffled juyeon's hair. “still cheesier than ever.”

the beautiful stars could already be seen as you passed through the city but you quickly focused your view on your boyfriend so you could savor the moment of stargazing with him. his hair was messed up from earlier and he was wearing the sweater you bought him for christmas paired up with nice-fitting ripped jeans. why was he so dressed up? the question kept popping up in your head the entire drive even when you tried to ignore it.

the closest tall hill was far away from where you lived so you decided to turn on the radio. as you do, the lighted-up tunnel was coming up. the breeze from the opened window and the song that was playing sparked this excitement in you.

“do you want me to open the sunroof?” juyeon suggested with a smile on his face.

“you read my mind.” you grinned.

when it fully opened, you unbuckled your seat and stood up. the breeze was perfect. by this time, the car was in the tunnel. you put your arms up enjoying and taking it all in.

“this is what i’m talking about!” you screamed. this was the thrill about you and juyeon’s relationship. he brought you happiness whenever you guys went. he was truly the love of your life and you wouldn’t mind spending the rest of your days with him.

a few minutes later, you arrived at the bottom of the hill. it was a popular spot for stargazing but luckily the parking lot was empty. juyeon held your hand the whole walk up and it gave you a fluttering feeling. you had been dating juyeon for 2 years now but he still had his ways to make you blush even if it was just holding your hands. he is truly the perfect boyfriend.

“come on! you’re so slow y/nnnn,” he whined, pulling you forward.

“it’s not like we’re gonna miss the stars juyeon.” you chuckled at how baby he was being.

you finally reach the top of the hill and it was absolutely stunning. the sky was filled with stars. no open space was seen. every single star was shining. then you laid your eyes on juyeon who was comfortably on the grass watching the stars. you quickly cuddled up next to him.

“juyeon. this is gorgeous. thank you for taking me here.” you pouted giving him googly eyes.

“of course my baby.” he pulled you to his body, hugging you. “but you are the prettier view.”

“stop being so flirty. i can’t take it,” you mumbled burying yourself in your hands. when juyeon didn’t respond, you peeked out of your hands to see him staring at you. “hm?”

“y/n. i want to be yours.” juyeon blurted out, keeping eye contact. he looked serious, a face you haven’t seen in a while. his eyes glistened in the moonlight.

“you’re already mine silly.”

“no. i mean i want to be yours forever.” juyeon sat up.

“what do you mean by that?” you stuttered, blinking repeatedly.

juyeon then took a small black box out of his back pocket. this was it. this is the moment you had been waiting for. juyeon didn’t just want to stargaze with you. he also wanted to propose. your heart became full.

“will you marry me y/n?”  he looked like a cute cat that very moment.

the ring was absolutely stunning but so was your boyfriend. scratch that, your soon-to-be husband.

the cafeteria noise was drilling into your ears, making it impossible for you to concentrate on your studies. you were deciding to go to the library; a very familiar place for “nerds” like you. although you didn't like the nickname, the classmates who constantly called you that weren't wholly wrong. as you tried to open the doors, to your surprise it was locked. the librarian must have gone to the bathroom and you were getting impatient.

so for a change of scenery, you chose to go into the courtyard where all the opposite people from you hung out aka the sporty type. 

you took out your notes at a small bench near the basketball courts, placing your stationery neatly to your side. this way, you’ll get more work done without any stress. as you calmly breathed in and out, you focused on the textbook in front of you. progress was shown through the many annotations you put in the paper. this is what you loved to do. understanding a subject gave you so much serotonin and energy. suddenly, you felt an object approaching your head and the peace was broken. as you fell over, your vision blurred as a figure hovered over your body, but their face was just a blob. 

next thing you know, you found yourself in the nurse’s office with a boy sitting across from you completely dozed off. he had a basketball next to his feet. before he could wake up, you took a mental note of his fluffy black hair, the way his plain black clothes fit on him, and his gorgeous lips. not to mention he was way taller compared to you. 

busy staring at his build, you didn’t feel his eyes on you. “hm?” you could hear him softly mumble.

“oh! you woke up.” he jolted up from his quick slumber, eyes wide open. 

“uh yeah…what happened?” you questioned the boy.

“i accidentally hit you with my ball. i’m so sorry about that by the way.” he apologized sincerely. you could tell by his boba ball eyes. 

“it’s fine. where’s my stuff? it’s really important.” you only cared about your items as they were precious notes you needed for the upcoming test this week. 

“it’s in the main office. don’t worry,” he reassured you as he felt your body stiffen up. 

“oh okay. thank you. anyway, nice to meet you. i gotta go now.” you slowly lifted yourself up and out of the bed. 

as you were about to leave, he stood up quickly making you look back at him. 

“i’m kim sunwoo by the way.” he scratched the back of his neck which made you chuckle. you could tell he was a grade below you from the way he acted towards you. 

“oh cool. sunwoo. i’m y/n.” you gave him a quick smile before exiting the room. 

whilst walking to the main office, that whole interaction with sunwoo wouldn’t leave your mind. you couldn’t think of any reasons why you weren’t upset with him. he ruined your study session but why weren’t you mad? is it because he was your exact ideal type? how come you never noticed him? what’s the point of thinking this hard if you guys would never meet again. you guys are from two different worlds. talking to a pretty boy like him just seemed like a one-time thing. 

a week goes by and sunwoo was on your mind 24/7. he would appear everywhere. even in the halls, he’d find your eyes in the ocean of students passing by. it was driving you crazy. would your worlds ever cross paths? it never seemed possible whenever you’d see girls surround him. he felt so far from you. 

you haven’t been to the courtyard this whole time since the library was finally open. it was peaceful and quiet again. although your life seemed boring to others, just the simple things made your day such as seeing the beautiful morning sunrise. who knew such things could impact you so much. when you walked into the library, almost every table was packed. the only seat left was near the window right next to the courtyard. 

as you were highlighting a section of your textbook, a basketball was thrown onto your desk from the window. this person must have great aim. as you glimpsed at the ball, a white paper taped onto it caught your attention. it read ‘come to the basketball courts - sunwoo’ with a cute face doodle next to his name. you couldn’t help to laugh at his silly way to get you to talk to him. it still felt like a fever dream that he would want anything to do with you. was this a way for him to get a tutor? the possibilities in your head were endless. 

when you reached the courts, you were met with sunwoo who had a playful smile plastered onto his face. this boy had trouble written all over him but you were curious about what he wanted to say. 

“it’s been a while y/n.” he beamed, putting his hands in his pocket.

“i guess so sunwoo.” you cheekily responded. 

“so.. i was wondering…if you’d like to get to know each other a little more…” he stepped towards you leaving a small space between you both. this sexual tension and eye contact made you swoon.

“a little straightforward isn’t it?” you joked, trying to remain calm but sunwoo easily made you flustered. with his troublesome flirty ways, he smoothly made his way into ruining your peaceful quiet life. you didn’t mind though. 

 “i’m just trying to shoot my shot,” he smirked while shrugging his shoulders.

as you entered your front porch, you met eyes with juyeon sitting in his car parked in front of your house. he gave you a sweet smile and quickly went out opening the passengers' seat for you as you walked down your driveway. 

“why thank you very much.” you beamed. 

“of course,” he replied in a gentleman-like voice. 

it was a hot day for december so it was exhilarating to go to a festival with your forever long-known crush that you’ve only admired from afar. it was freshmen year when you first passed by him in the hallways. he was always the topic in everybody's conversation and it drew in your curiosity. was he really all that? and to answer your question, he was. you found yourself seeing him around all the time and he was sweet and genuine to anyone who interacted with him. a perfect guy like him didn’t seem possible. 

now here you are, sitting in juyeon’s car, on a date. that is what you had processed the whole car ride to the festival. you were reserved and kept your legs together the entire time. you looked around his car for the first few minutes as it became quiet. juyeon’s car was tidy and clean just as you expected. he even had a cat keychain tied to the rearview mirror that you found endearing. 

as you guys were finishing up a good long conversation, juyeon parked the car, and you could see the amazing booths lined up in front of you and gorgeous lanterns lighting all the way to the main stage where you can see people performing. you gazed in awe seeing how gorgeous the festival was. it might have been bright daylight but it couldn’t have been any better than this.

“so what do you wanna do first?” juyeon asked as you both slowly walked around taking in everything around you. it was overwhelming with how many people were there. 

“hmm…” you looked everywhere until you smelled the scent of delicious churros.

 “i’m craving churros right now. should we get some before we watch the performances?” you suggested. 

“absolutely. you just read my mind,” he smirked. 

with your half-eaten churros, it had become the afternoon and the performances were ending. the announcer brought in the next singer and it happened to be one of your favorite bands of all time. this had to be your luckiest day.

“oh my god. i love this band, no way,” you mentioned to juyeon.

he bent down to hear you as the crowd grew louder when the band came out. 

“do you wanna move a little closer to see them?” 

you nodded in delight. 

as they were about to sing their first song, you felt your phone vibrate from your back pocket. it was the hospital. your heart stopped. juyeon was enjoying the performance with a smile before he slowly looked at you nervously holding up your phone to your ear. you bit your nails anxiously as you waited for a reply. the silence was unbearable. after a few seconds, you heard a voice speak. 

“hello y/n this is **** hospital. we’re calling you to let you know that your mom had a heart attack and she’s currently in the ER. please come if you are able to.” 

“oh okay thank you so much,” you replied trying to respond in the calmest way possible even though you were scared. you took a big gulp, trying your hardest to fight back the tears. the only thing on your mind was your mom. 

“what happened y/n?” juyeon asked as his eyebrows furrowed. he looked worried. 

“i’m sorry juyeon. something came up. my mom is in the er. i gotta go. thank you for today, i had fun. let’s do this another time.” you gave him a weak smile before you started walking out of the busy crowd. 

he quickly grabbed your wrist, “do you need a ride there?” 

“oh no it’s okay, i’ll ask sunwoo. He lives close around here. i don’t want to bother you.” you declined. even if that was the most convenient way, you didn’t want to do that to juyeon on your second date. you would just be a mess in front of him which was the last thing you wanted. you gave him a smile again before running out to the entrance where all the cars were. you had already called sunwoo by then.

sunwoo immediately pulled up in front of you as it was only a 2-minute drive from his house. you swiftly hopped into his car and put your seatbelt on. he looked just as distressed as you were. he was also close to your mother as he was always favored by her among your friends. you’ve known him the most too. this was something you both feared ever since your mom was admitted to the hospital. all you could do was pray. 

“don’t worry y/n. your mother is strong,” sunwoo reassured you, squeezing your hand. 

you simply nodded as if there was something stuck in your throat that stopped you from speaking or maybe it was the fact you would start bawling if you were to reply. although you were seconds away from a mental breakdown, sunwoo’s words comforted you. this was the only thing keeping you calm.
