idk i really like the genre of ships that are decidedly NOT soulmates...there's a level of imperfectness that makes it comfy and healing. gojo and nanami? satosugu definitely had that star crossed lovers soulmate thing going on, but i like the idea that with nanago they settle their souls with each other and find happiness together despite it all. same thing with erasermic. aizawa and shirakumo balanced each other out well, but erasermic as an old married couple? with shared trauma? that's good shit. joe and cherry? same thing. hirotaka and narumi? same vibe. on second thought, maybe i just like old married couple ships, because i think serirei also fits in this category. hopefully you get it

I feel sad for those characters that are brittle, and worn down. The aged character that wished they had done more with their life. Because you know that they had all the makings of a good protagonist, but didn’t have a wise mentor or life-changing event to make it happen.
