So Hiccup makes a lot of genius inventions but for years Berk just dismissed them all because surprise surprise, things go wrong when working with a prototype! So yeah, they didn’t like Hiccup’s inventions and in fact actually let him know they really disliked them. Walk with me on this one, because I’m having thoughts about it now that are jumbled and only half formed; Hiccup who doesn’t realize his inventions are all that genius vs. the dragon hunters, led by Viggo who is a genius in his own right, who realize this random eighteen year old is fucking scary and his inventions could do a lot of damage.
But Hiccup is just like “Oh this? *shrugs* Yeah I just thought it would be helpful to have. No it’s nothing that special, see, I just had to— *cue explanation that’s hard to follow because Hiccup really honestly doesn’t realize how genius it is*”
And no one on Berk really tells him they’re genius at first because they didn’t pay that much attention and then because they’re just used to it. Like to them that’s not genius that’s just Hiccup being Hiccup.

Actually you SHOULD make problematic content. You SHOULD explore dark or taboo topics. You SHOULD have a space where you can cope with your traumas or explore sensitive topics in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.
Also you should make problematic content for funsies. You don't need to have had trauma or need to be coping in order to explore dark creativity. You can just be a human who wants to explore dark and taboo topics because you want to. That's completely normal, btw.

Astrid - With Viggo being so close to Hiccup, Astrid often comes up as a topic of conversation between the two. The fact they both want Hiccup to be his best self (albeit for different motivations (entertainment vs. his wellbeing) that likely clash) could also lead to an interesting dynamic. While she'd certainly distrust Viggo, Viggo would likely catch onto the fact he's got no chance of manipulating her, making their interaction just as much of a mind game as Viggo and Hiccup.
Fishlegs - while both Hiccup and he know the kist about dragons, Fishlegs has just enough extra niche knowledge that he might- if not matching Viggo's intellect- manage to outsmart Viggo on the subject of dragons. If Viggo hadn't chosen Hiccup as his opponent, I could definitely see Fishlegs taking the mantle. Fishlegs and Hiccup share many traits to be exploited (obsessive tendencies, pacifism, naivety), though with enough differences in how they present to still be a unique interaction. (Hiccup tends to overworked himself, whereas Fishlegs tends to ignore everything around him to focus on a single thing in depth.)
Ruffnut/Tuffnut - both of the twins are shown to be surprisingly smart, particularly in areas that are widespread rather than highly specific. If given Viggo the proper attention, they could definitely predict his every move, though might vastly overestimate some moves when talking to each other. Viggo may fall for their act for a short time, but I doubt he'd be fooled for very long. Ruffnut is shown to be a bit more ruthless and cunning, so while juggling (likely fruitless) attempts to manipulate her he'd have to watch her own behaviour to make sure she's not about to do something. Tuffnut, on the other hand, while a bit... Softer, is also shown to be the more deranged and unhinged of the two, and while easily manipulatable in the right situations, would be hard to predict, just like Hiccup.
Snotlout - while true, that Snotlout would be incredibly easy to manipulate, as long as he has another person to rely on, Viggo would be unlikely to get far, assuming he doesn't immediately get what he wants. Snotlout's often manipulated in canon be repetition, or lack thereof. Dagur keeps messing with him? He'll act out. His dad keeps telling him everyone hates him? He'll show them! Hiccup tells him to keep an eye on Viggo no matter what? He'll- let Viggo burn to death in the stables because he doesn't particularly care. Of the others, he has the most clear interaction (save Astrid), being explicitly shown to be afraid of Viggo and implied to have chatted with him for some time. Judging by the words he uses, it's impossible to tell if he started talking about Hiccup or if Viggo was doing the talking, but considering in rob/dob there's a whole training program to make sure none of the riders talk under pressure, the latter is more likely.
