Oh man, I’m drinking this drink right now and it’s called dragonfruit Jin+Ja.  It’s a fusion of ginger, cayenne pepper, mint, and some other hippie stuff.  It’s amazing and not as bad as I thought.  It’s spicy but dragonfruit sweet.  Goodness!

Lynnwood, WA.  Tomorrow all the details will be on my blogspot, but now I’ll run through a few things and let them sit on my mind while sleeping.

Today’s Fair On 44th was an excellent community outreach initiative organized by city officials and public service leadership.  Police, Fire, Public Utilities, and a variety of other government departments were in full force.  They came ready to interact hands on and the crowds appreciated it.  There were a few other local business that showed up.  They provided information and fun for the kids.

I just took some Dream Water so I’m going to try and make this quick.

Jake’s Cafe was unique.  I’m a sucker for unique food in a unique atmosphere.  Not that the food itself was unique, because we consumed a burger and sandwich, but the taste of it was.  I believe that atmosphere enhances taste, but maybe I’m wrong, maybe it was just flat out good food.

To me, Snohomish, WA feels “vintage” or “antique”.  The city has its own character and some of that flavor spills into this cafe.  It was like visiting the early to mid-20th century.  Antiques line every space that can be filled.  There’s a beautiful little service bar in the middle for singles or doubles.  Awesome if you don’t like looking at the person you’re eating with.

Its that old diner or cafe standard…you walk in, you seat yourself, a kind service agent offers you a drink, they give you time to look over the menu, they revisit, take your order and then Bam!  You have your food in 10-15 minutes.  You’re happy!

What do you do when you find $40 on a Sunday?  You take your 4 y/o daughter to the gas station, have her fill up your vehicle with premium gasoline and then go to Mukilteo, WA to experience the 9th Annual Vintage Aircraft Weekend.

Parking was free, kids under 10 are free, adults are charged, entertainment for children is free.  Entertainment for children includes a flight simulator and a hill with a 45° slope that they can roll down.

There are quite a few vintage airplanes and supposedly there were many vintage automobiles to match, but all those guys left Sunday morning, so there were two vintage cars.

My wife is always right.  At first, I’m hesitant or shrug off her requests to try new things.  Why?  Probably because I’m afraid of those things that are niche or look lame at first glance.

Lake Stevens, WA is a residential city.  It’s a small business town with the feel to match.  It’s slightly country, but it’s all changing.  The city is opening itself to new ideas and new businesses.  For a small, one zipcode city, it has a healthy variety of businesses.

This brings me to Kaliki’s.

I never thought a shaved ice business would have worked here, but it has and will continue to do so.  They don’t sell sno-cones or Icee’s, no, they sell Hawaiian shave ice.  

The shaved ice is soft and packed.  Their smallest size is big enough, almost divisible between two people.  They have tons of flavors to mix and match.  They are the only Hawaiian shave ice shop in Snohomish county that I’m aware of, and that being the case, they still deliver a quality of product.  They are active in the community, thats how I discovered them.  They put passion into what they do and that makes all the difference.  I will also add that the owners are nice folks too.

I am guilty of allowing the media to manipulate my emotions.

This event was weak.  It was my first time covering a political event, so I don’t have a scale of weak to strong, but I know for a fact that this event was over-hyped and really weak.

The protesters were passionless and mostly lacked creativity.

There were a handful of evangelists blasting their voices out of a Thunder Power 1200 Megaphone for 7, thats right, SEVEN HOURS!  

There were a few instigators who weren’t committed to instigating and left as soon as they came.

There were the Trump attendees.  They seemed to have enjoyed standing in line and not caring who yell at them or what they yell about.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Ford changed how we travel and work with the Model-T.  A century later, museums are changing how we travel (not literally) to the past.

One of the many cool things about Granite Falls Museum, is that they have an archive of railroad, mining, and homestead boundary maps (now digitized) dating back to 1910.  

Tomorrow I will be heading out to the Granite Falls Historical Museum for another history moment to share with everyone. 

I stopped by the Lake Stevens Historical Museum today to catch up on a history lesson.  The glimpse into its past changed my view on “change”.  

I’m not a fan of change, because i love old stuff and that vintage flavor...but now I really believe change is essential for growth.  It’s comforting to know that there are organizations out there preserving local relics and all the while making space for the future.  

And for this caption I was going to insert a brainy quote by some famous person from the area, but I couldn't find one that was fitting. 

Tomorrow I’ll be visiting Lake Stevens Historical Museum.  I’m looking forward to learning a little more about the place I live and sharing it on my blogspot.
