i just found out from wikipedia that since, in earthsea, tolk in hardic means 'stone' and inien means 'sea', that means that the name of earthsea in hardic itself would be tolk-inien which sounds like tolkien, and lotr was a massive influence on the books so it's probably an intentional easter-egg.

There's something so sweet and sad about the fact that the first question Peeta asks Katniss to establish genuine friendship is "what's your favourite colour?", which is a pretty typical childish question. It shows that they really are still so young.
i don't think it needs to be associated with childhood, i think it's a lovely question to ask someone. it says that you care about something small and insignificant about them. you can even use it to accurately choose the colour of something you're making or buying for them later.
what a strange phenomenon it is when you've been friends with someone for years and you suddenly realise you don't even know their favourite colour.
i agree that i love that peeta asks this, and i think it does show how young he is in a way, because this is a question most do associate with kids on a playground, and he might too, but he asks it anyway because he knows it sounds a bit stupid in the context but is nice.
