I thought I’d try to mix my two loves. Food and photography and deliver to you some tasty pictures and equally tasty recipes for you to try. Sometimes they’ll be my own recipes, other times, they’ll be someone else’s.

Ice Cold Blueberry Soda This is perfect for a cool or hot summer day

Ingredients

1 cup of blueberries 1-1.5 cups of Sugar half lemon of lemon zest 1-1.5 Cups of water.

Making the Syrup 

1. In a small sauce pan add a cup of blueberries and fill with water until it covers the blueberries. Add half a lemon’s worth of lemon zest. Bring to a simmer.

2. Smash the blueberries while they cook until the liquid turns dark purple

3. Simmer for about 5 minutes, you want the water to reduce a little.

4. Pour the blueberry liquid through a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer into a heatproof glass. Mash the blueberry pulp to pull out all the delicious blueberry juice.

5. Return the strained blueberry juice to the sauce pan add enough sugar until you have 1 part sugar 1 part juice. 

6. Simmer and let the mixture reduce into a blueberry syrup. About 8-10 minutes.

7. Pour mixture into a mason jar, let cool.

Making the Drink

1. Add 3-4 tablespoons of syrup, a small handfull of blueberries into a tall glass.
