What's Left - Sarah
Half an onion & half a bag of peas. I feel like I used my food & money very efficiently. I think I hit all the key nutritional aspects and really didn't feel hungry. I was most surprised by the mental aspects of this challenge. The lack of freedom to eat what I wanted, when I wanted it. I had to ration my food and plan ahead on ways above and beyond anything I've done before. The lack of variety became very challenging. I may have gotten a fruit, a couple vegetables, and some protein everyday but they were always the same ones. Having limited access to food also impacted my ability to exercise the way I normally do. I can easily see that I would start pursuing empty calories to try to make up the difference, which would create a vicious cycle. Finally, I can only hope that I never have to try to feed my kids on $4.20 a day. I cannot imagine placing these same limits on my kids. Kids should never have to be told they can have an apple or a banana but not both.
