Damian Wayne with uncomfortable and unpretty and completely normal reactions to being raised from early childhood to be violent I love you.

Even big scary ghosts need affection and emotional support.
[Image ID: A digital drawing of Danny Fenton in a hoodie looking murderous while gently cradling the face of a monstrous Phantom with one hand. Phantom's body is black and shadow-like with glowing neon green ribs, palms, eyes, mouth, ghostly tail and fire for hair. Phantom has four hands, three of which he is using to hold onto Danny, and the fourth hovers reverently over the human hand cradling his face. /. End ID]

The really unfortunate thing about reading a lot of Damian comics and especially more recent ones is that not only will you have to face the increasing nuclearification of the Bats you will occasionally have to do it while a comic is ALSO telling you that being blood related makes you Realer Family Actually

the juxtaposition between Jason "I died in an explosion trying to save innocent civilians from Joker and my body was so battered Bruce could barely carry it out" Todd and Dick "I lightly fell on a tiny rock ever so slightly wrong and somehow managed to break my entire neck and die instantly before anyone could say anything" Grayson is...there's something to dig into there, but I can't quite put my finger on it
Add to it Dick "dies and immediately gets recruited by a God for continuing undead superheroics as her champion" Grayson and Jason "had to claw his own way out of the grave and was left a John Doe vegetable in his father's own city for months" Todd.

I am constantly thinking about this
This mild Wikipedia sentence is like the understatement of all time
Here are some crazy grasshopper mouse facts for those who are not familiar with the most badass mouse species on the planet
- They are primarily carnivorous, and their diet is made up of not only bugs but also snakes, lizards and other mice.
- They hunt like true predators, slowly stalking and creeping up on their prey before ambushing them. They will sometimes let out a screech as they attack.
- Like wolves, they howl to establish territory and have a specially developed throat to produce louder vocalizations. They will stand up on their hind legs and throw their head back to howl- a sound that can be heard from 100 meters away!
- Grasshopper mouse behavior is linked to lunar cycles and they are more active during a full moon.
- These mice have been hunting bark scorpions and evolving alongside them for so long that theyâve evolved a mutation where scorpion venom that is lethal to other animals is converted into a painkiller in the grasshopper mouseâs body.

They discover him on a regular mission. A simple group of grade twos that had been terrorizing an old forest.
Easy enough mission for the first-years coming off the disaster that was the Kyoto Exchange event.
Ijichi pulls into the shadow of a truly monstrous RV in the designated parking lot. Probably foreigners then. There weren't many people who hiked or spent time in the forest, likely due to the curses, but there also wasnât a lot of parking space to begin with. Just⌠flattened dead grass.
Satoruâs darling first years are already out and walking towards the trees so he follows leisurely. With his hands resting behind his head, itâs easy to watch the stars, even behind the swirls of cursed energy in the air.
âCan you guys hear that?â Yuuji asks suddenly, making them all stop to listen, âSounds like⌠somebody yelling?â
âEii?? You sure youâre not just hearing the usual voices in your head?â Nobara shoots back grumpily. Sheâs about to open her mouth again when she stops- they all stop, turning their heads in the direction Yuuji had first looked. Because yeah, they can hear something. Or somebody.
The cursed energy in the area spikes. Briefly and just for an instant. Then again.
Satoru leans forward and peers into the darkness. No sooner does he spot a bright green cloud of cursed energy before he also spots the white t-shirt of somebody weaving through the trees.
The yelling gets louder and-
Aha, so itâs a teenagerâs. A teenager who is running in a dead sprint towards them with two cursed spirits on their tail.
âCrap! Crap! Craaaappp!!!â The teen yells, finally close enough to make out. Dark hair, pale skin, frantic blue-green-blue eyes. The teen spots them, âRun!!!!â
Nobara sneers at the kid, âNot a chance!â She already has a nail in the air by the time she finishes shouting, sending it sailing towards the bear-shaped curse and another to its opposite.
The second one misses, but Yuuji runs forward to meet the curse head on, supported by Megumi and his hounds.
Satisfied with his studentâs teamwork, Satoru turns to the boy whoâs just barely skidded to a stop in front of him. He grins, âHey! Nice to meet ya!â He waves cheerfully.
The boyâs face twists, âHi???â He glances back at the curses, âuh..What the hell was that?!â
Satoru grins and gives a thumbs up, âThat was cursed spirits!â
âThatâs notâŚâ The boyâs eyes dart back and forth from Satoru to the curses, âWho the hell are you?â
Satoruâs grin widens, âIâm Satoru Gojo, of course! And here to help!â
âRightâŚIâm.. Danny..â he looks back to the curse Nobara is fighting before he suddenly jumps to his feet, âOh crap!â
The newly named âDannyâ is on his feet before Satoru can stop him, running towards the bear curse fighting Nobara. Satoru watches as a nail makes its home in the bearâs mouth, only to raise his brow as its maw opens back up and shoots the nail back at Nobara.
Danny is just in time to tackle her to the ground, the nail lodging itself in the tree above their heads.
âGet off of me!â Nobara screams, pounding her fists on Danny despite him already moving to stand. âWhat the hell was that, you idiot! You got dirt all over my uniform!â
âIt can shoot back out anything it eats! I think itâs from the animals eating trash!â Danny yells back, dodging the bearâs swipes, âIt barfed a vending machine at me earlier! Did you want me to let you get impaled!?!!â
Then Danny does something that completely flips Satoruâs perception of him on itâs head.
He jumps to the side, just out of range of the bear, and pulls something out from behind him. Itâs a gun. A very odd, very B-movie Sci Fi gun, but a gun all the same. And then he aims and shoots at the curse with barely a seconds hesitation.
Weirder than that, the shot actually hits. A green blast of light that hits home on the curseâs side; the first makes it stumble back and the second shot pierces straight through.
Nobara is shocked, but not shocked enough to miss her own shot, sending a hairpin nail straight through its chest.
Danny looks equally shocked at the action, even catching sight of Megumi and Yuuji finishing off their own curse.
âHowâd youâŚ?â Danny starts, but heâs interrupted by another spike in cursed energy and a green light shooting up into the sky. Danny gasps, âMom and Dad!â And then heâs running again, back into the dense trees.
His students follow, of course, but Satoru takes a second to pause, staring up at the green flare as it dips in the sky. He canât help the way his eyebrows pull together at the bright glowing image of a manâs smiling face now seared among the stars.
What in the..?
Satoru follows after his students towards those spikes of cursed energy. Itâs relatively easy to catch up to Danny, with Yuujiâs unnatural speed putting him ahead of the boy rather quickly.
Rather, he focuses his energy on the clearing they come across, nestled in what might have once been a dried creekbed. It is now the site of two people crowding around a glowing green net pinning a curse to the ground while a thirdâmuch youngerâperson stands atop the net hitting it with⌠a baseball bat?
âEat creepstick, trip-wrecker!â The girl yells, unrelenting in her hits as the two adults cheer her on.
âShow that spook whoâs boss, Jazzy!â The man yells. Or rather, bellows, since his sheer size and volume make the words echo around the trees.
A few flyheads zip out from the foliage, fleeing upwards and away.
âDaaad!â A voice whines beside him.
Gojo looks to the side, surprised to see Danny easily sliding down the rocky slope towards the group and-
Oh, that actually kind of makes sense.
The man brightens at seeing Danny, immediately coming over to ruffle the boyâs hair and lift him onto his shoulders while questioning after âthose other two spooks.â
Satoru catches Dannyâs glance towards him and realizes he must mean the curses that had been chasing Danny. And just in time for the red-haired girl to land a final hit on the curse under the net, exorcising it with a loud bang as it explodes.
Curse blood splatters against infinity as he approaches with his students behind him.
âHai! Thanks for doing our jobs for us!â He greets with a wave and a grin, âWe were just coming here to take care of these spirits!â
The two adults blink at him, but the manâs grin doesnât falter, âJazzy! Could you come help us?â He hollers to the girlâJazzy?âdespite her being well within speaking distance. And despite the boy on his shoulder speaking fluent Japanese earlier.
The girl sighs as she approaches, âHe said something about thank you for doing his job? I think? Uhh and they were here to deal with.. oh, I think they were here for the ghosts too.â
Something happens to the manâs face, his expression brightening with enough excitement that it flashes like a glare across Satoruâs Six-Eyes.
âYouâre Hunters! Always great to meet fellow spook chasers!â The man says, in English, and really itâs only because he can process infinity that Satoru catches any of it at that volume.
Danny looks distinctly uncomfortable, sliding down from the manâs shoulder with ease. He doesnât make it far before a hand pulls him close again.
âIâm Jack, this is my wonderfully amazing wife, Maddie, my daughter, Jazz, and my son, Danny!â Jack smiles, gathering each of them into a tight hug that lifts them each a foot off the ground. âWeâre the Fentons! Of the Fentonightingale hunters!â
Satoruâs smile stiffens, just a bit. It was never⌠great when a sorcerer introduced themselves with a family name. And apparently these were foreign sorcerers, if the American accented English was anything to go by.
He chuckles and switches to the ever dreaded English he uses abroad, âIâm Satoru Gojo, these three are my students. Nice to meet you!â
He steps aside to let them introduce themselves, with Nobara stomping on Yuujiâs foot halfway through Jennifer Lawrenceâs name.
Satoru takes the chance to inspect the Fenton clan members in front of him. Danny, evidently, has the most cursed energy by far, though it feels oddly stifled. Not controlled, just⌠stifled. Jazz has significantly less but still more than either parent, who have barely any. Rather⌠the familyâs cursed energy seems to largely be centered in Jazzâs bat, and in the weapons Satoru can tell the parents have stuffed in their pockets and hanging on the belt.
He glances back to the net theyâd used. It also had a decent amount of imbued cursed energy.
Satoru jumps into the conversation, âSo what are you all doing in Japan?â
The mother is the one to answer, âA ghost tour of course!â She exclaims, âWeâve spent the whole summer taking a family trip together!
âAnd taking out those nasty spooks wherever we find them!â Jack adds in.
âA family that kills ghosts together stays together!â Maddie says, hugging her kids close despite the curse blood on one of them and the uncomfortable grimace on the other.
âYou know, I havenât seen your weapons before, can I ask where-â
âWell of course you havenât seen them before!â The woman cuts in, brandishing what appears to be a silver coated, glowing, grenade launcher, âThese are Fenton patented Ecto-guns! We make all of our own ghost hunting equipment!â
Yuujiâs eyes light up at the fancy weaponry, and Satoru can even see the interest in Megumiâs eyes as he leans forward. But Satoru canât help but feel his hackles rise with suspicion.
âYep!â Jack jumps in again, âThatâs three generations of Fentonightingale family know-how right there! Crafted into the perfect spook-destroying package!â
Something about their cursed objects is off to Satoru, the cursed energy bright and erratic despite not matching either parentâs energy output. It doesnât sit right.
Still, he smiles, about to ask another question when he feels his phone buzz in his pocket.
He pulls it out, not surprised to see a message from Ijichi inquiring about the lack of a veil. Satoru glances up to the Fentons eagerly showing his students their equipment; another oddity: they hadnât put up their own veil.
Satoru plasters on a smile and claps loudly, drawing their attention, âSo sorry to interrupt! But my students and I have to be going! I hadnât realized how late it was,â He slings an arm over Megumiâs shoulder, undeterred when he shoves it off, âWhat kind of example would I be setting as their teacher letting them stay out at night?â
Megumi looks ready to rebuke that statement but doesnât get the chance.
âOf course of course! We totally understand!â Maddie says. She hums, âOh! Jack, we should be getting the kids to bed soon too! We still have to find a good place to set up the GAVâs Port-Lab!â
âRight you are dear!â Jack shouts, running over to their tools and weapons scattered around the clearing. Jazz is already helping pick things upâincluding the net from earlier, though Maddie seems more interested in inspecting the curse blood on ground under it.
His students have started to talk amongst themselves at the lack of distraction so Satoru takes the time to look back at the only Fenton left in front of him. Danny. Who is staring at him like Satoru stole the last slice of cake at a cafe.
Satoru smiles back and gives a jaunty salute, âNice to meet you, Danny-kun! Nice fighting!â
The kidâs brows scrunch ever closer together, â..RightâŚ.youâre like, super weird, you know that right?â
Satoru laughs.
Danny gives him another look before turning and jogging over to help his parents with their bundle of gear.
Satoru lets his students lead their way out of the forest themselves. Instead, Satoru doesnât take his eyes off that flare of suppressed cursed energy the whole way back.
At least not until he lays eyes on the looming RV beside Ijichiâs car.
He has more than a few questions.
i think the thing about batman's no kill rule is that it's essentially bruce saying "guilty people don't deserve to be murdered on the street either, actually." and he's not wrong.
See but the thing about Red Hoodâs yes kill rule is that itâs essentially jason saying âinnocent people donât deserve to be murdered on the street either, actually.â and heâs not wrong.

This Kid is Two Nickels Too Rich - Chapter 2
Chapter 1: https://www.tumblr.com/snaileer/793970678077538304/this-kid-is-two-nickels-too-rich-chapter-1
âGojo-sensei! Theyâre gonna execute him!â
These are the first words he hears from his students that day.
Satoru had been sitting in the courtyardâwell, on the roof of the buildings in the coutyard, but all the sameâtrying to figure out what his Six Eyes was picking up on.
Earlier today, heâd gotten a flash of something, like everything had shifted pink for a split moment of time. Everything.
It was odd. And certainly nothing heâd noticed before; looking into it felt like trying to unlock another hollow purple.
Maybe this is why Megumi and Nobara are both able to surprise him when they slam open the doors and race into the courtyard to shout at him.
Satoru is immediately on his feet in front of them, âWho? Itadori?â
âNo, the kid who saved Nanami!â Nobara says back, urgent. And this is news to Satoru. Nanami had been on a mission for a semi-first grade curse in the mountains.
âTheyâre saying theyâre gonna execute him!â
âKid who saved Nanami huh?â Satoru hums as he thinks. Dang it why were these geezers always trying to get rid of kids!
âGuess that means Iâve gotta go save him then,â Satoru says. A sharp grin stretches across his face; this would be interesting.
ââ
Satoru leaned his arms against the chair back rest in front of him, watching the kid sleep.
He really should write down a script for convincing the higher ups not to execute children, so he wouldnât have to keep improvising it on the spot. Although⌠heâs done pretty well so far.
Three for three that is.
Practice makes perfect. Gosh this kid was a heavy sleeper.
âHey,â
Nothing.
âHey kid.â
Nothing.
Satoru flicked a rock from his pocket at him, âKid wake up.â Another rock.
He actually put some force into the third rock, and the kid finally stirred with a groan.
âKid, hey, wake up.â
âUh what? Am I late for school?â
Satoruâs smile stiffenedâthis really was just a kidâbut he watched as the teen blinked awake, only to startle when he realized where he was.
âHey who are you!? Where am I!?â The kid jerked around standing slightly to try and see the whole room.
âCalm down,â Satoru said, gesturing with his hand, âIâm Gojo Satoru, a jujutsu sorcerer.â
The kid blinked, slowly sitting down without looking away from Satoru, âOkumura Rin⌠uh where am I?â
Okumura Rin. Finally he had a name, because they hadnât even bothered to get the name of the kid they were going to execute.
âWell Okumura, you are currently in a sealed curse room at Jujutsu High.â
âA what?â
Satoru blinked, looking closer at Okumura. He hadnât even considered they wouldnât know about curses. After all, the report said heâd helped get rid of a grade one using a jujutsu technique. And carrying such a strong cursed objectâŚ
âYou are an interesting one,â Satoru said with a smile, âBut Iâm here to decide if you get to live, interesting or not.â
Okumura cocked his head to the side, confused, âHuh?â
âYou see, when you interfered with that curse, your⌠power scared some of our Elders. Theyâve decided to execute you-â
âOh, thatâs it?â
Satoru blinked, his eyebrows scrunching beneath his blindfold. This kid⌠Okumura looked hardly bothered, glancing around the room with a casual disregard. He was not at all concerned with news of his execution.
The kid jolts, âOh yeah, hows that yellow haired office guy? Is he okay?â
Yellow-haired⌠Nanami?
âHuh? You should be more concerned about yourself right now kid-â
âIs he. Okay.â Okumura asked again, eyes staring down Satoru. His eyes sparked, slightly glowing.
Satoru glanced at the seals hanging from the walls around them, noticing as a few began to smolder, the edges blackening.
That⌠shouldnât be possible.
Satoruâs eyebrows climbed higher; interesting indeed.
âNanami is doing fine, he is currently receiving medical care for a concussion and abdominal wounds,â Satoru said, watching the relief wash over Okumura. Another kid with a bleeding heart then. Of course.
âBut you really ought to worry about yourself, that was a pretty powerful jujutsu technique you used on that curse. Got the higher-ups all in a tizzy about letting such a strong curse user run about.â
âCurse⌠user?â
Hmm, so he really didnât know.
âEvery year, about 10,000 people are reported dead or missing in Japan due to Cursed Spirits,â Satoru watched shock flash across Okumuraâs face, but only briefly, âCurses form from large pools of negative energy, often in places like schools or hospitals. We at Jujutsu Tech are responsible for training the next generation of jujutsu sorcerers to exorcise these curses and prevent them from killing more people.â
âRight,â Okumura muttered, shoulders curling in on himself.
âThat power of yours-â
âIs dangerous, I know,â Okumura snapped, resentment clear even as he tucked his head. His energy roiled.
âCould help save people,â Satoru finished, voice firm. Okumura looked up at him, surprised.
âSave⌠people?â Okumura murmured, âI can barely control it enough to fight.â
âMmm, for now,â Satoru conceded, standing leisurely, âAnd thatâs why they want you executed. An unregistered sorcerer carrying a special-grade cursed object around and not even able to control their own technique?âŚâ Satoru chuckled, grinning at the wall as he quietly inspected the seals, âUnacceptable. But I think youâre worth more alive,â he leaned closer, grinning at Okumura, âLuckily for you, I was able to convince them to let you attend Jujutsu Tech. Under my splendid guidance, of course,â He mockingly framed his face in his hands.
Okumura stayed silent, watching him.
Satoru straightened, âOr you can let them secretly execute you for the sake of their cowardice,â he waved off the words, his tone dismissive.
âYou actually think you can help me save people with my flames? How?â Okumura asks skeptically.
Satoru Gojo smiles, âKid, Iâm the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer alive⌠the possibilities are limitless.â
This Kid is Two Nickels Too Rich â (Chapter 1)
Rin was gonna break that clownâs neck for this, he was absolutely certain of it.
âGrrrrahhhh!â Rin shouts, hands in his hair, âIâm gonna kill that stupid clown!â
âThatâs rude.â
Rin whips around to find Mephistoâs reflection next to him in the mirror.
âAy!! Stupid clown where did you send me!?â
The next moment, the clown is standing on the other side of himâ
In this very tiny temple. What the hell.
Where did he send him?
âHmmm? Well I didnât send you here,â Mephisto says with a curious hum, looking around, âYou did that all on your own, falling into my mirror like that.â
Rin could feel his eye twitch.
âAnd you knocked my new mangas down too,â Mephisto says with a pout.
âYour manga!?!!â Rin yells, âYou just zapped me halfway across Japan! Who cares about your manga-â
âOh?â
â-Iâm gonna be late for class and then Iâll have to hear it from that four-eyed moleface all night!â
Mephisto chuckles lowly. Rin freezes, coming up short. That was never a good sign.
âYou think- oh, how adorable,â He smirks, hand coming up to stroke his goatee, âYouâre most certainly farther than that.â
Rinâs hands fly to his hair in shock, âWe left Japan!???!â
Mephistoâthe jerkâchuckles again, âOh no, weâre still in Japan,â he leans into Rinâs face, âJust not⌠your Japan.â
âHuh?â Rin stared at him, blankly.
âYouâve traveled worlds, Rin.â Mephisto replies with a deadpan.
âHah?â
The clown sighs. âUniverses. The mirror sent you to a different universe.â
âWhat!!?!!!!?â Rin screams, scrambling back towards the mirror, âSend me back!â
âHmmmm,â Mephistoâs glance around the temple room is visible in the mirrorâs reflection, âThis could be interestingâŚâ
âInteresting, who cares about that?! Send me back!!â Rin shouts back.
Mephisto slowly approaches, peering closer to the mirror. He reaches out, dipping one hand through the liquid surface of the reflection.
âWhat the..â Rin mumbles.
âLetâs see,â Mephisto pushes a hand against Rinâs head, smushing his face against the glass. And thatâs exactly what it does: smushes him.
âSgghhhh, megghistoo, whathg arhh yuu doooeng?â
Mephisto steps back, hands on his hips and an insufferable smile on his face.
âWell looks I canât push you through myself,â He says with a put upon sigh, âWeâll have to figure out another way to get you through.â
âIn the meantime-â Mephisto snaps his fingers with a smirk, a few papers appearing in his hands, âThis should keep you under the radar.â
Rin takes the offered paper- eiiii??? Its his ID??
âWhat do you mean under the radar? Howâd you get my ID and what did you do to it!?!â
Mephisto smiles, âOh I just edited some records, planted some details, nothing⌠crazy.â
Rin leans away, âRight, why though? If Iâm gonna be leaving?â
Mephisto sighs again, âWell you see, you have to not be noticed until then. You canât tell anyone of your true origins, your true universe.â
âEii, why not? Who would I tell?â
Mephisto points to the mirror, and when Rin turns to look, the man is standing next to it, still smiling.
âYour presence here, its disrupting the mirror. The more different you are..â Mephisto taps the frame with a single sharp finger, drawing Rinâs eyes closer.
He notices for the first time, a sharp crack has glanced over the top edge of the mirror, warping the image a bit.
âIf it breaksâŚâ ice trickles down his spine, âI donât have a way home.â
âRighty-O!â Mephisto cheers, âAnd what have I said about keeping that tail exposed? Naughty, naughty boy,â he says, wagging his finger.
Rin glares.
Mephisto clicks his tongue with a wink, âBye bye now, survive!â He gives a cocky salute and jumps sideways into the mirror.
Rin gapes, eye twitching once more.
He grips Kurikara in the bag at his back, wishing he could beat that clown over the head with it.
Grumbling, he releases his sword and tucks the ID into his pockets, stuffing his tail under his shirt with a scowl. He hated having it tucked away, it felt cramped. But that freak never said something without a reason; even if the reason was his own entertainment.
Getting out of the temple is easy enough, since its so small, but then he encounters a whole new problem.
Heâs stuck in some forest!
Rin groans as he looks around at the trees and the broken shrines around the temple. He knew it looked too old to not be abandoned! Rin pouts even as he hikes up kurikara on his back and starts the trudge through the trees. Stupid clown, stupid demon mirror, stupid manga, stupid classes, stupid broth-
A rumble echoes through the trees.
Really!? An earthquake!? Now!?
Another rumble. But it didnât feel like an earthquake, it felt like⌠an explosion?
Rin starts moving faster, confusion setting in when he realizes the dark wall in front of him is not shadows but actually some kind of wall.
He slows before he smacks into it, stopping right at the edge.
It looks too smooth to be from a building⌠and too tall.
Rin looks up, seeing the way the surface curves upwards into a domed skyscraper.
He hums, squinting at the weird wall. Carefully, he pokes it, surprised when a ripple goes across it. Weird.
But definitely an exorcist tool then.
Rin goes from one finger to pressing his whole hand against it. Thereâs resistance but⌠its not solid.
Another rumble echoes through the ground, and this close, Rin can tell itâs coming from inside whatever this thing is. He presses his face against it to try and see inside.
Its blurry, and dark, but he can kind of make out a building, and some lumps on the ground, and- he presses harder, trying to see better. Thereâs-
His blurry vision goes clear with a pop and the uncomfortable sensation of falling.
Suddenly the world around him is dark, but he can see it all clearly, those lumps on the ground, they were demon corpses, and-
âHey, itâs nighttime now!?!â Rin shouts, looking up at the sky, which is just as dark as the yard around him.
A roar breaks through his thoughts and Rin looks up to see some kind of giant demon throwing somebody to the ground from the building.
This was a fight. Rin had just stumbled into a fight between this demon and some kind of⌠office worker?
The office man slams against the ground on the other side of the courtyard, already standing.
He looks at Rin, blood running down the side of his face, âWhat are you doing here kid?! This place isnât safe!â
The demon roars again and lunges for Rin-
Its arm is missing before he can even blink. And suddenly, office man is standing next to him, holding a blade wrapped in black and white fabric.
âWhere did you even come from?â The guy says, breathing heavy, âThere shouldnât have been anybody here with this many curses.â
Curses? What the..?
âHuh?â Rin quirks an eyebrow and jabs a thumb over his shoulder to the weird wall, âI just came through that weird wall thingy?â
The manâs eyes widen and-
The demon attacks again; this time, the man is the only one paying attention, and rushes forward to intercept the claws.
The claws rake through the manâs side in front of him, despite office guy immediately turning and slicing through the thingâs fingers.
He lands a bit away from Rin, but itâs easy to tell heâs flagging. If only from blood loss.
Because he saved Rinâs life. Because Rin hadnât been paying enough attention. Rin had put somebody else in danger, for him. He shouldnât have to be saved, wasnât worth being saved when he was-
Rin could see the image of the old man standing in front of him instead of the office worker. Rin had been responsible for that too and now it was happening again, somebody was gonna die, for him.
Rin sees the demon start to move, a healed arm rising up to slam down on the office man.
No. He wouldnât let it happen again.
He couldnât use kurikara, couldnât risk that, but he could still use his flames, could still hit that thing and keep it away from the other man.
He wouldnât let anybody else die for him!
Rin lunges at the demon, teeth bared.

DAMIAN WAYNE/ROBIN & TIM DRAKE/RED ROBIN in TEEN TITANS (2003)
A bond of Time
Ra's al Ghul sat at his desk in the dimly lit chamber of the League of Assassins' stronghold. A steaming cup of tea cooled beside his papers. The immortal's pen paused mid-signature as his mind wanderedânot to plots or conquests, but to bloodlines. His own bloodline, too. If someone had ever asked Raâs al Ghul who his favorite descendant was, he would not have hesitated. "It is Respawn," he would say in a deliberate tone implying his decision was absolute. Not Damian, as so many seem to assume.
He was not the heir who was bred with meticulous care and trained in blade and stratagem since infancy. He wasn't the boy who bore the sharp eyes of his mother and the stubborn chin of his detective father. No, Damian was complicated. Ra's found him to be too much of Bruce's son and not enough of an al Ghul. For Mara, it was the reverse. As for his own children, well, they are his kids.
Respawn was different.
It wasn't about familial loveânot exactly. In Ra's mind, love was too imprecise a word and too vulnerable a thing. No, his affection for the boy came from something simpler. Respawn reminded him of someone he knew: Someone else with white hair and green eyes. It was similar to why he liked the detective with his black hair and blue eyes.
Daniel "Danny" Fenton-Phantom.
Ra leaned back in his chair, letting the name roll around in his mind.
The time traveler had appeared throughout history like a wayward comet, never staying long but leaving chaos and wonder in his wake.
Ra had encountered him during the Crusades, in feudal Japan, and on the docks of London during the Industrial Revolution. He always had that same infuriating, infectious grin, as if the world were a game and he were three moves ahead of everyone else. He had even thwarted some of his assassination attempts in the past.
Ra had once considered having Daniel marry one of his daughters. But fate had other ideas. The detectiveâs obsession with justice and Taliaâs relentless ambition resulted in Damian.
The old man smiled faintly, but it was more the smile of a predator than a grandfather. He wondered if Damian had any idea how close he had come to being the son of a Ghost Hero. The last he had heard, Damian had joined the Justice League Group part-time. As the first modern hero, he liked Nabu and considered joining them.
A thought struck him. Perhaps it was time for Damian to meet Danielle.
Ra tapped his pen against the desk in quiet contemplation. DanielleâDanny's...what had he called her? Cousin? Clone? Daughter? The truth was complicated, but Ra could see the similarities. They had the same green eyes and the same smirk when challenged. If any two young warriors could find common ground, it would be them.
And why not?
Ra remembered Cairo in 1985, a desert night when the temple was under siege. He recalled the way Daniel had emerged from the smoke, carrying his unconscious daughter, Nyssa, as if she weighed nothing. The boy had never asked for thanks. But Ra had insisted on exchanging contact information before Daniel vanished again.
It was an absurdly mundane gesture for such an extraordinary connectionâscribbling down a number on cheap hotel stationeryâbut Ra kept it. Remarkably, it still worked when he tried to call Daniel after seeing him on TV.
He did not call often. Perhaps once every few months, when the weight of centuries became too much, he craved a conversation with someone who understood both immortality and isolation.
He dialed without hesitation. The phone rang twice before the line clicked.
"Ra's al Ghul," came the voiceâwry, young, and with that unshakable confidence that made the immortal want to strangle him at least half the time. "You're either in trouble or bored."
"Family," Ra's said simply.
There was a pause. "That's...new."
"I believe it is time for three of my grandchildren to meet Danielle: The whole Trio: Respawn, Mara and Damian.â
Danny let out a low whistle. "That's a dangerous combination, old man. Are you sure youâre not just trying to cause an international incident? Did you ask Bruce if you could send Robin on a playdate?â
"Possibly," Ra admitted, "but think of the educational value."
Danny chuckled, and for a moment, Ra could almost see that same white-haired figure stepping out of battle as he fought him and Vandal, laughing in the face of death. âAll right. But if Damian tries to stab her, I'll let her stab back.â
Ra wasn't sure why he thought Damian would stab Robin and not Respawn or Mara. But yeah, he could see Damian trying it, too. He replied: "I would expect nothing less."
They settled on a date and a meeting placeâat least as neutral as any place could be under the watchful eye of the League of Assassins. When the call ended, Ra replaced the receiver in its cradle and sat in silence for a moment.
This meeting would not be without risk. But then, the most interesting games never are.
The door to his study creaked open, and Ubu entered, bowing low. "My lord, the scouts reportâ"
âLater,â Ra interrupted. "Call Mara and tell her she will meet with Damian and Respawn later."
Ubu hesitated, wisely deciding not to question the order, and withdrew to search for Mara.

Danny, while tinkering with a Fenton Tech device used to create a sonic frequency that deters ghosts, accidentally finds the frequency of Jimmy Olsenâs watch. He flinched back violently, leaning back on his chair too far and on a crash course of hitting the ground before he was stopped by the cause of his fright: Superman appearing in his bedroom.
Superman and The Flash have their annual 50 lap race around the world when an unknown joins them on their yearly get together⌠a glowing teenager with blinding white hair, toxic green eyes, and a face of sheer delight, whooping and happily shouting as he does his best to keep up with the Speedster and Man of Steel
For added context
This âraceâ is a real thing in comics and Barry goes easy on Superman
How often does these two racing come up? More than youâd think
In the early races they would tie. DC liked to tease it out. Whoâs the fastest? Who know, after all you canât say one is faster if they tieâŚ
Then they casually drop the bomb that Barry has been holding back for years every time they raced. The race was a publicity thing, he was having fun and putting on a show, meanwhile Clark was actually going as fast as he could
So keeping that in mind, Clark and Barry are both holding back for Danny to remotely keep up with them. A bit like a dog running next to a vehicle, the vehicle could go faster but the dog is just having fun trying to keep up
As @the-witchhunter said, this race is something that happens in comics, and quite frequently too! Here are just a few of the comics where they race.
