“I suppose I’ll have to, won’t I?” said Leia. “I want to be a good mother.”

“I’m sure you will,” Lana assured her. “I mean, you run all this. You can also keep up with my brother and that takes some serious motherly skills,” she giggled.

For moment he wasn’t sure what to say. Did she mean a co-pilot friend or a co-pilot… in another sense. He looked up at her, smile slowly stopping. “I’m sorry, Lana…”

Lana tried not to sigh. Well, of course he didn’t get it. “Yeah, she was a nice girl. Kinda reminded me of myself when I was younger. Crazy kid but good with guns.” He wanted her to use big letters, fine. “I’ll have to find a new one. It’s hard piloting a ship that big when you’re all alone.”

He looked back at her as she said those words and he smiled at her then, laughing under his breath. Now that was the Lana he knew. “I suppose not. But I’m glad you have seat belt in this one.” He patted his chest.

Lana rolled her eyes and shrugged. “Useless things. But good for frightened passengers,” she teased him and flicked another few switches, piloting the ship low. She fell silent for long moment, wondering if she should say that. Maybe this was a mistake, no, it was for sure a mistake, but she just couldn’t keep her mouth shut. “I’ve lost a copilot recently.” 

Leia kept on smiling. “I know,” she said happily. “It’s going to be wonderful.”

“I hope you’re gonna take some break in your general-ing?” Lana asked and slightly nudged her side. “I missed a lot of things in my life... but sure as hell I ain’t gonna miss that.”

The safety belt was the only reason he was still in the seat. This was something he had forgotten. Lana was mildly insane making a get away. At least, not as bad as her brother… He sucked in a breath as another turn was made and his eyes widened.

Lana on the other hand, couldn’t be happier. That was her life, who she was... The adrenaline rush was as important as morning coffee. She just couldn’t live without it. When she was was sure she lost their tale, she leveled the flight and leaned back in her chair. “Oh, line in the good old days!” She said, almost purring and smirked when she noticed the look on his face. “Oh come on, that wasn’t so bad...”

His head jerked and smacked into the back of his chair. His teeth rattled and he frowned as they shot out of the shuttle bay. “Jesus.” He muttered as they slowed.

“Told you to hold on,” Lana said with a smirk as she made a very sharp turn, almost 180 in mid air before flying straight up through the atmosphere. She giggled when she noticed his face. “Breathe, Cass. Breathe.” 

“I’m so happy for you Leia, you have no idea,” she said with a wide grin. “And can’t wait to hug this lucky bastard. If I’m lucky, I’ll do it before he kills me for my disappearance.” 

“He wouldn’t do that,” she said reassuringly. “He’s far too happy about the other news. Trust me.”

“I’m so happy for both of you,” Lana repeated. “And I’m going to be an aunt! Do you know how awesome it is? I mean, that’s gonna be so damn great.”

He smirked at her, climbing on board and snapping the safety belt into his chair. “Anything can have speed with the right pilot.” He glanced out a port and frowned, “Might wanna jack this thing up to top speed, looks like I didn’t clean up that well…” He muttered, knowing damn well he had.

She tilted her head a bit when she noticed those men walk in to the hangar. Well then... “Cass... One good advice, hold onto something.” She quickly started switching buttons, gears and knobs and started the engines before they could shoot at them.
