it creeps like growing corner webs
like crows eating a bread crumb trail
like swayings of a lanky birch
aching for its toppled fate
like clock hands made unwound by time
like trains at night that never show
like water spat out from my mouth
into the sink's mysterious hole
like dogs running from fireworks
like dead stars over Bethlehem
like pine needles on Saint Knut's day
prickling my abdomen
