Rapunzel and Flynn had talked, but not truly spoken, since she made the whirlwind decision to kiss him at midnight. She’d spent weeks wondering if it was a good decision, but it seemed like her answer lied in how much he had been avoiding her since then. He was out of the house at the crack of dawn, not to return until the sun had already set. Ironically, it was Kit who had helped her follow her heart out of the house and to the small park a block away where she thought she’d seen Flynn heading. It was a little crazy, following him like that, but she couldn’t help herself. Rapunzel knew what she had to do now, and somehow, the answer was clear in the person who had been there all along.
“Flynn?” she called out as she approached him, his expression a tired one. She hoped that it was from the early morning rise instead of the sight of her. Taking a reluctant seat next to him, she gave a sheepish smile. “I know. I mean, I know all of that, that I had to have changed your life because you changed mine. I don’t know what this is, but I was hoping you’d say that, about a dream.” As much as she had dreamt of her life outside of her tower, she could have never imagined meeting someone like him, not ever. Somehow, he was exactly the right person for her, even though he was also the least expected. “I had a dream for a long time, and you’re the one who helped me make it come true. All this time I’ve been here, it’s like I’ve been sleeping, but not dreaming, because if I had been, I think I would’ve realized it a long time ago.” She turned, shifting on the bench to face him. “It’s you. You’re my new dream.”
Flynn looked at her, his heart pounding against his chest as he saw how vulnerable Rapunzel was. Ever since they kissed, Flynn was certain that his feelings had always been something more. He couldn’t hide it anymore or repress it any longer. Rapunzel was special to him, not because she was silly, weird, or forced to interact with him under the circumstances. This time, Flynn knew that he liked her for who she was, and he was just too stupid, and afraid to confront the truth of his feelings towards her. He had a good reason why Kit, or any other guys came before him despite them being practically housemates. He didn’t want to be like the other guys. He didn’t want to lose her like Kit did. He saw the Charming boy's face when they talked about their split, and he had the same kind of fear that he might be in his position someday. "I was hoping you’d say that." He smirked, walking towards her and finally earning the courage to cross the line — to seal the deal. Flynn kissed her again, a gentle peck on the lips. This time, not out of tradition, but for the love that he truly felt on his chest.
"You’ve always been my dream." Flynn smiled at her, placing a hand on her cheek. He’d do anything—just about anything to protect her from harm. And yet, he somehow found himself roped into a different dimension, and quite frankly, not out of magic, but out of pure human immorality. He was certain he’d always put her out of harm’s way, so he just needed to figure out a way to escape his rather dubious job. For now, perhaps Flynn could get used to this. Perhaps he finally had some chance to express his true feelings without getting lost in the fog of uncertainty. "Alright, blondie. Let's get you back, and this time I'll cook for everybody since I've been out. I will hear no complaints!" He chuckled, placing an arm around her shoulders while walking their way back home. Flynn knew he was a terrible cook and he couldn’t wait to hear Pascal groan at his volunteerism.
