The sides exist in this weird paradox where they're human enough to love and suffer but never human enough to live. Because their existence is reliant on c!Thomas and therefore their wants will always reflect his, they don't truly have freewill, the defining trait of humanity. They will always be human enough, always enough to love and suffer, never enough to live.

Logan does not take this well, and his coping mechanisms is to deny his own humanity lest he acknowledge that he cannot comprehend his lack of it. He's like a computer, he can only comprehend ones and zeros, completes and voids. He can't comprehend that he's a half, half human, half alive, half real.
