You spot an interesting picture at the head of a brief article and decide to give it a read.

When you think "pirates", the mind likely conjures images of billowy sleeves and swashbuckling-- the article continues in a tabloid-esque fashion before reaching an interview between the author and an alleged ex-pirate
"So, Capitan Whetstone is what they called you."
"Some called me Sharp, others called me Whetstone, aye."
"Was there a meaning behind the names or did everyone on the high seas just have a cutesy nickname they went by?"
"I don't think i like your tone, newsboy --"
"Publicist. And my job isn't my name, its-"
"Well I like to think they called me sharp on account of I weren't no dullard. One of very few who made it out alive and with more years under my belt than most. Anyway Sharp's just what they put on the posters to scare folk. But the reason they called me Whetstone... that weren't because it's cute. It's because every man that faced me an' lived came out sharper. Wiser or smarter they were better for it I'm sure."
"And the ones that didn't?"
"Well... the ones that didn't make it weren't worth betterin' I wager. You wanna make somethin' good you start with quality materials, not rotted ones."
"How many didn't make it? And where'd all the money go?"
The author notes that the Capitan simply lifted her glass and motioned to it
"Anything that didn't go here went to me crew. I'm a pardoned woman with a new life and I don't have time for no foolish newsboy questions."
The author notes that after a long silence, he paid for another drink before asking another question
"And what is it you do now?"
"I don't want no one comin' to find me from those days. I'm a smith by trade and a drinker. That's all you're getting from me."
The author notes that despite her demeanor during the interview the Capitan was quite a joy to visit with when not discussing the old days. Post interview she had even offered a place to stay for the evening to avoid the snow. He goes on to paint her as a kind and gentle woman and makes several more points about piracy and its golden age.
