Our escort is beside herself do you have any idea where Rowen might be?
"If he can hide this well in the games then I guess heâs set."
"You make an excellent point. I don't think I've seen him once, and we live on the same floor."
Seems like my reputation precedes me...
Come on, sweetheart. Once you had a taste, youâll be wanting for more, Iâm sure.
No, I- I think I'm okay. I can just take your word for it.

âThe hardest part is doing it on yourself, you know? Everybody can stitch and wrap up someone else, but itâs a very different story to do things on yourselfâ He commented casually as he observed his notes and did his best in order to remember what the exact position of every important artery in his arm. He knew he was not going to be lucky enough to have his notes on the arena, so he had to learn everything by heart as fast as he could.
âIf you want to learn, I will gladly teach you, but I want a favor in exchangeâ He commented as he took the knife and injured his own arm. âI donât know you, but practicing with dummies is pointless. You donât know how much pressure to add and you donât get ready to see bloodâ He said as he applied a quick tourniquet to stop the bleeding. âIâve learned some medical stuff these days. Things that they wonât teach you in detailed in the training stationsâ He made a pause. âIâm willing to share them with you, but I need information from your sideâ He commented calmly.
âI think itâs a fair tradeâ He made a pause and waited for her answer.Â
Fern nodded although she couldn't really relate. She had never done stitches on herself and hoped that she would never have to. Considering how much pain he had to be in he seemed to be amazingly steady, which was particularly fascinating in the most morbid way possible
Fern glanced up to his focused face when he offered to teach her in return. It made her worried for what he was going to ask of her. She gently furrowed her brows and looked back to his arm as he stopped the bleeding. "It does sound fair. What are you wanting me to do exactly?" She asked cautiously.
Seems like my reputation precedes me...
Wanna have a try with me, sweetheart? I promise Iâll be gentle, if thatâs what you prefer.
I, um... no, thank you. I- I think I'm okay.

Focused Mindset || Fector
Hector smiled and let her drag him towards the dining area. He looked around and pulled her off to a small dark corner, wrapping his arms around her with a smile. He kissed her softly then moved his lips to neck nuzzling it lightly âYes we will talk about it at dinner.â He let her go and heading to the dining hall. He went and got his plate and filled it up before getting a drink and finding a small table in the corner so they could talk privately.
Fern let out a silent content sigh as his arms wrapped around her. Her lips moved back against before he moved to kiss her neck. She weakly opened her eyes and let out a small breath against his shoulder. Left with such a warm and safe feeling, Fern slowly released her hold on him and started walking to the the dining hall. She knew this wasn't smart. They needed to be more wise about where they showed their affection, but she couldn't bring herself to denying this. She fixed her plate and sat down next to him. "So," She started as she glanced around to make sure no one was listening. "What's going on exactly?"

âTrying to do the best with what I have. Now, do not faint or barf because thatâs the last thing I need nowâ He said calmly as he continued with the procedure. The not so unexpected presence of someone in the room wouldâve made Max tried to find an excuse to justify what he was doing, but he cared very little now. Right now, he just wanted to learn as much as he could in order to improve his chances in the arena. He knew well he was not allowed to hurt others or get help from doctors, but no one said a thing about using himself to practice on himself using what he found in the library. He had to admit it was quite interesting what one could find there if you knew exactly what were you looking for.
âSo, you are free to go or stayâŚâ He commented seriously as he looked at her eyes, and then he looked at his notes on the table. Max knew it was impossible for him to carry so many books around. So, he made notes and drawings on his notebook. He had a very detailed drawing of an arm that included arteries and veins.  He seemed to have been studying what areas were safe to work with and which ones were not.
âSo, what have you found out so far?â He commented casually. Â
Fern swallowed hard as she looked down to his arm again. She wasn't going to pass out or vomit though. She had seen decently gruesome accidents at home from mis-swung axes, and misjudged falling trees, but she wasn't expecting to walk into this kind of thingÂ
"I'll stay." Fern murmured as she took a breath. She wasn't weak in the stomach for blood, but seeing the blood of someone she was allied with made her anxious and paranoid. It also made her aware that she was going to see more blood than she could imagine in the arena. She remembered when she was younger watching the games that she had no idea how a person could have so much blood in them. Now she just hoped that she wouldn't have to see too much of it. Especially from anyone she cared about.
"Um," She started as she looked down trying to focus on his question. "Male from district 8 is very physically fit, but a little impatient and very cocky." She started. "Careers are pretty much the same. I have a feeling that he might fall into an alliance with them, unless he's smarter than what I'm giving him credit for." She said as she looked back to to his arm. Her eyes scanned over the table at the notes that he had sprawled out. "So whenever you're not too into it, you should explain what you're doing."

The dim light of the room illuminated the young manâs body as he stood in front of the table looking at the sharpened blade of the knife in front of him. Carefully, he disinfected the blade for some minutes until he made sure it was in adequate conditions for what he was about to do. He took a deep breath as he started rolling the sleeve of his arms in order to expose the skin of his arms that sported the damage his body suffered for the last couple of weeks.
Swiftly, he took the knife and sliced his flesh hard enough to bring a considerate amount of blood. He hissed, but he didnât scream. In fact, his face seemed to reflect somehow a kind of twisted pleasure. After that, he just closed his eyes and took a deep breath.  The hardest part was coming; the first was just a childrenâs game. He knew the game makers may not give him chance to threat his injuries in the arena.
He took a book and bit it as hard as he could in order not to scream. He got the candle closer to his body and placed it right on his injury. He had to use all his willpower in order not to scream and cursed to the heavens even though it just lasted a few seconds. Once he achieved his goal; he proceeded to use some vodka to disinfect the wound. It hurt terribly, but it was something he had to learn by himself. He only had himself to rely on from now on.
Fern let out a small yawn as she walked around. She had a small pulsing headache, but she figured that keeping her thoughts away from it that it would pass. She looked over to see Max standing in front of the table and curiosity picked at her. She wasn't sure if they had the kind of relationship to just walk over and talk to one another, but she didn't care. Â
The girl walked over closer before she noticed how dark the room was. It was kind of weird and creepy, but she ignored it. When Fern stepped closer she noticed something on the boy's arm, but the room was too dimmly lit to see what it was from the distance she was at. It wasn't until she was closer that she could see blood. She quietly gasped and stepped over to him. She looked back and forth between his face and arm, concerned for his well being as she quickly closed the rest of the distance. "Oh my god," She murmured, but then she realized that she should probably try to be more polite because she had no idea what was going on. "Um, what are you doing?"

The longer you run || Fern and Wex
A girl approached him and Wex, like the womanizer he was, couldnât help but notice how her eyes seemed to study his body. Problem was, this girl was a Tribute. Sure, maybe she was checking him out, but it was very likely that she was just looking for a weakness in a future opponent. Wex knew that, of course, and yet he couldnât help but shot the girl a roguish grin. âLike what you see, pet?â
When she was close enough he got a good look at her. Calloused hands, and if his memory served him right she was District 7âs female Tribute. People from that District were dangerous, they were born and raised with a weapon in hand, and the Gamemakers always made sure that at least an axe or two made their way to the Cornucopia. Dangerous Tributes make the Games more exciting, and the Capitol craved that kind of show, after all. Despite her sweet appearance Wex decided that this girl, this Fern was someone he wanted on his side. If he couldnât manage that heâd be happy to know that she wouldnât actively hunt him down first, at least.
âIâm not too much of a runner.â
Wex simply laughed and shrugged, as if that wasnât a big deal. âHey, no problem. We can set the difficulty on the easiest level. I could even teach you a thing or two about running, Iâm sure you could repay me somehow. You were working at the rope tying station, right? Learned anything useful?â Tying knots was something he could already do, of course: maybe he wasnât familiar with the sea knots from District 4, but when it came to threads and sewing his District had no rivals; still he didnât want to seem too confident, not when it came to his skills: he had no qualms flaunting his speed or his strength, those were obvious from his build alone, but he didnât want others to know exactly what he could and couldnât do.
Pet? Fern thought in complete disgust. She didn't know if he meant to come across in the way that she took it, but if she didn't have the small alliance of her, Hector, and Max to think about she would've reacted much differently. Instead she kept her fascinated and thrilled smile on her lips and shrugged. "Maybe." She smiled a bit flirtatiously. She wasn't interested in the slightest at this point, but manipulation was one of Fern's best assets. She was going to take advantage. Making an enemy wasn't what she wanted and she figured she could get past the arrogance if she focused on something else while in his presence.
The girl listened to his compromise and shrugged. "Fine." She smiled as she stepped closer to him. She figured it wouldn't be terrible to work at something she was decent at. It wasn't what Fern was most skilled in, so she knew that she could get away with it. "I could teach you a snare knot that I've figured out." She offered in return as she looked up to him. Fern tucked her hair behind her ear again and looked around. "So... where do we start?" She asked enthusiastically as she bounced on her heels a bit.Â
Seems like my reputation precedes me...
Assume so? Sweetheart, wait till you spend a night with me, and youâll know for sure.
Woa... um..
The longer you run || Fern and Wex
Wex just coulndnât take it anymore. All those plants looked the same to him no matter what his instructor told him. Look at the borders of the leaf? Itâs just a fucking leaf, itâs green, itâs fragile⌠And it might kill him, the instructor reminded Wex.
Damn, this whole training thing was really taking its toll on him. Even though he always did all he could to look his best Wex had started to notice some shadow under his eyes, not to mention the fact that his smile, his best weapon according to everyone on his team, was becoming a rarer sight each day that passed.
Wex leaned forward and looked at the leaf the instructor was showing him. There was a veiny-looking thing there, but for the life of him Wex couldnât remember what it was supposed to mean. âHey, I appreciate your help, but maybe Iâm just not in the right mood. You know what? Iâll go away, train somewhere else and then Iâll come back here with my mind fresh and ready for all your incredibly interesting plants. Deal?â Without even waiting for an answer Wex left the instructor and walked toward the obstacle course. He knew that this was a huge mistake on his part. Being able to recognize at least some plants in the arena could save his life, and he should work on his weaknesses, Wex knew that. But at that moment he just couldnât do it: his life was miserable enough knowing that his days were possibly numered, he wasnât going to spend them looking like an idiot in front of a desk full of lattuce.
He flexed his muscles and stretched his arms and legs before looking around the room with an hopeful glance. He saw some other tributes not too far away, all busy with their own things. Part of Wex knew that he could simply train on the course on his own, but another, bigger part of him wanted to show off his skills. Of course Wex didnât even take into consideration the fact that these guys could be better than him at the obstacle course. Nope, with all the sneaking around he used to do back home to get away from those pesky Peacekeepers Wex was pretty confident he could beat anyone who showed up on the starting line next to him.
"So, anyone wants to race?" Wex paused a second before adding with a smirk. "I promise Iâll go easy on you."
Fern fiddled around at the rope tying station. There were so many impossible looking knots. She had abandoned all hope of learning them all, but she did pay particular focus on a few that she believed would be useful.
The tribute's gaze perked up from the ropes in front of her to the figure standing only a few yards away. She looked around to make sure that he was talking to her before she put on a sweet smiled and took a step over to him.
The thin girl's eyes scanned him looking for signs that would indicate his strengths. Which was pretty obvious. By the look of his physic, he was strong. And apparently from his own words, fast. An immediate weakness that she noticed was his arrogance though. And he seemed to be flaunting his strengths, which Fern wouldn't dare do. It would've put too much of a target on her back. That wasn't something that she wanted to start the games with since she already had her alliance.
Fern made sure to keep the sweet smile on her face. She was worried that she had been too obviously staring, but maybe he would dismiss it, or just think that she was checking him out or something. "No, thanks." She lightly chuckled and shook her head. "I'm not too much of a runner." Fernlied. She didn't mind running, and she was pretty fast too, but she didn't want to let him know that just yet.
"A girl after my own heartâŚbut you care about him as much as I do- though while it might be in a different way, now is not the time to be daydreamingâŚand you know that. He canât afford far away fantasy. He needs to be in the here and now."
"I know, and I agree. I'll see what sense I can talk into him tonight."
Seems like my reputation precedes me...
Yeah, but they shouldâve said something to me instead of spreading rumours, cause nothing beats the real thing, right?
Um, I- um, yeah, I would assume so.

"He romanticizes self sacrificed suicide,Fern. He rationalizes everything in that dull head of his, and itâs becoming slightly bothersome. You are all he cares about, and while I do not want to change thatâŚyou both must focus on your preservation, your trainingâŚwhich he wonât let me do while he remains glued to your side. I canât offer him a fighting chance because he wonât take it from me.â
"I'm trying, but he already has this grand scheme in his head that I'm going to win and we're going to be married. I can't promise that I'll be able to get through to him immediately, but I'll talk to him. If talking doesn't help then I'll work up some tragic tears and then he'll be willing to listen."
"I want you to know, from a mentorâs point of view, that the risk you put yourself through will be greater than the benefit. And I wonât sugarcoat it, because I donât believe that is what you want to hear."
"I figured it was...It's just a lot to take in right now. I already know that if you tried to reason that with him he'd say something about it being worth the risk. You know how he romanticizes things."
