#stillsavinggmw
Reblog if you still want more seasons of gmw just as bad now as you did when it was canceled.
Lets see how many still care
How can we be sure our efforts are making an impact beyond customer service reps who are trained to give the same answers - even NETFLIX who has passed still says the same thing? We've heard no insiders saying we're being noticed at all on either side of the fence - the platforms or Disney. I'm not talking succeeding, I'm talking being taken seriously. Inside information leaking and that sort of thing.
So, I think people are expecting some kind of cookie crumbs from execs or something, but thatâs just not how this works most of the time. Part of the reason the paper airplane campaign is SO IMPORTANT is because thatâs physical mail going straight to corporate, so if people havenât gotten around to participating yetâŚnowâs the time!
In general, the only âinside leaksâ youâll get during a save our show campaign are the hard nos (a la Netflix the other week). If the show in question gets successfully rescued in the end, youâll hear about production and whatever specific network/platform being âin talksââŚbut not until within a few days of an announcement, when things are just about settled for sure. Or, youâll hear about talks and then later youâll hear they fell apart. Those are the usual patterns. But talks donât happen and/or they fall apart if demand is not sustained.
So, if people are giving up because Hulu/Amazon/Disney execs arenât telling us whatâs going on, if anythingâŚjust know: thatâs a very bad reason to drop out, especially now, because thatâs just plain not how this usually works. If you wanna save a show, you have to keep making noise and bringing other fans onboard even though execs most likely arenât going to acknowledge you and very little to nothing will leak aside from hard nosâUNLESS/UNTIL someone eventually saves the show in the end.
Thatâs justâŚkinda how it is in MOST cases.
This ^^^. The worst thing for the campaign is giving up because we havenât heard anything. Geez, companies arenât in the business of going to the media with an update every step up the way. Journalists arenât going to care about getting updates every step of the way either. If itâs a no we will find out and if itâs a yes we will find out.
Thereâs a reason âno news is good newsâ is a common piece of advice. Itâs true!
^^^^
THIS.
Like the saying goes: it's not over till it's over. Keep showing up, GMW fandom! đâď¸đ
All of this has happened before...
NBC, May 2014: *cancels Community*
Entire Community fandom: NOOOOOOO! *bombards Netflix customer service by the thousands with pleas to save the show*
Variety, May 2014: Netflix will not be saving Community.
Community fandom majority: That is not true. There isn't a real source! Don't believe Variety! CS reps say they're gonna make an announcement! Our voices are being heard!
Community fandom minority: Hey everybody, we need to move on and try harder at other places because Netflix is out.
Community fandom majority: NO IT'S NOT *links to Netflix live chat screenshot*
TVLine, June 2014: Talks at Hulu to save Community have broken down.
Community fandom: *gets crazy crazy lucky when Yahoo Screen shows up out of nowhere at the last second*
Netflix: *never did make an "official announcement" about not picking up Community*
Cory Matthews: Learn from the past...
Me: I'm seriously not trying to be mean, nor would I do anything to hurt GMW's chance at a pick-up. Continue to lobby Netflix if you must. I know people aren't gonna let it go. I wanted Netflix as much as any of you, because I wanted what was best for international fans too. But based on past experience and current knowledge I am BEGGING YOU...for every one thing you do towards Netflix, do two each for Hulu and Amazon who have NOT given a hard no on the matter to the press. Because I dunno about you, but even though it's technically possible...I'm not holding my breath for a Yahoo to come out of nowhere in the end.
In conclusion: Do what you want, but seriously? DođNOTđsleepđonđhuluđandđamazonđâźď¸âźď¸
Itâs been a minute since we shared a batch of #Planes4GMW on tumblrâŚ

Here's a treat to hold you over. It might have been posted before but I myself hadn't ever seen it before. Let's hope that we get a season 4 so that we can get to see the story play out the way MJ intended. đđâď¸

Fingers crossed that we hear good news soon! đđâď¸
All of the reasons why Hulu and GMW are a great match. This got me excited for the possibility of Hulu. How about you? đđâď¸
GMW Season 3 will be available on Netflix on February 19, 2017! Letâs keep working to get GMW a new home (and new season) with Hulu, Amazon or another platform in the meantime! đâď¸đ
Did something new happen with Netflix?
I can tell you that Netflix is 100% out.
That said, we have known from the start due to whispers from production that Hulu was the better option and Netflix was a longer shot. People didnât want to listen then, and I understand they still donât want to listen now, but please consider this:
(1) Hulu has had recent positive business dealings with DC: https://www.hulu.com/press/posts/hulu-doubles-down-on-kids-programming-through-multi-network-svod-licensing-agreement-with-the-disney-abc-television-group. As well as Walt Disney Studios (although that subsidiary is separate from Disney Channel): https://www.hulu.com/press/posts/hulu-expands-offering-of-family-favorites-and-blockbuster-movies-in-first-licensing-agreement-for-theatrical-features-with-the-walt-disney-studios
(2) Hulu is trying to push/acquire/originate more kids & family programming: http://www.adweek.com/news/television/hulu-makes-big-kids-programming-push-new-disney-channel-deal-172048
(3) Netflix already has two popular family comedy originals in their line-up. Hulu has none: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_original_programs_distributed_by_Hulu
(4) Hulu wants to be more competitive in terms of award nominations: http://deadline.com/2014/03/warner-horizons-craig-erwich-joins-hulu-as-head-of-content-707168/
(5) Hulu originals can have longer seasons (closer to the standard 20ish) and they release weekly, which GMW production might prefer because the executive producers are old school, and a standard-length season is likely the framework around which they originally planned S4.
The list of reasons why Girl Meets World is kind of a perfect fit for Hulu goes on and on and on, one particular little bonus being that if you go look at who Hulu Head of Originals Beatrice Springborn follows on Twitter, itâs pretty clear that she is not going to have annnnny kind of a problem with Rowanâs politics.
Most everybodyâs knee-jerk reaction (including mine) the night of cancellation was to think of Netflix first. And I get it. Netflix is Superman. Theyâre huge. But the reality is that Netflix is out, and Hulu is, in many ways, a better fit.
I understand that if Hulu rescues the show, we will still have the issue of people not having paid access to Girl Meets World. I empathize with that. But that issue is going to persist in some form or another no matter where the show potentially goes. Luckily, itâs 2017 and there is always a way to watch a TV show as long as said TV show continues to exist. Also? I have no doubt that Hulu wants to expand more in terms of international service eventually. Again, I empathize with and understand that there are people who truly cannot afford or simply just plain donât have a regional access to Hulu. But the Hulu door is still open. The Netflix one isnât.
Like I said the other day, sometimes Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter shows up when Superman doesnât.
Don't sleep on Hulu (or Amazon Studios)!!!

The final plane ready for take-off.
DONâT SLEEP ON HULU OR AMAZON!!
@planes4gmw @savegmw
Netflix: *leaks that they won't be picking up Girl Meets World right when the planes are about to start flying en masse*
Hulu: *does nothing to stop the planes*
Disney Channel: *does nothing to stop the planes*
Amazon Studios: *may not even know what's headed for their mailroom now*
A like for the fandom by Mark Blutman (GMW writer). Keep going, everyone! @planes4gmw @savegmw
Round-up of posts to please read regarding the Netflix situation:
So, I say this with absolutely no offense or intentional condescension towards anyone personally, but I think a lot of people have a fundamental misunderstanding about how journalism works when it comes to things like corporate leaks (especially in the entertainment biz). In hopes of dispelling the misinformation going around the fandom about how this kind of thing actually works, Iâm going to link y'all to this first, and then I have about three other things for you to read. After that, I think more people will understand the reality of situation. So, start here to read about the relationship between journalists and corporate entities in terms of leaks:
http://girlmeetsherworld.tumblr.com/post/156124230490/listen-up-girl-meets-world-fans
Then proceed here for a little bit more on that:
http://girlmeetsherworld.tumblr.com/post/156137500015/why-are-we-pretending-like-linda-ge-is-netflix
Then, go here to read about Netflixâs established practices (or, more accurately, lack thereof) for not picking up shows + why customer service is still encouraging GMW fans who contact them despite the leak from higher-up:
http://theowldetective.tumblr.com/post/156139391516/heres-why-netflix-customer-service-reps-are-still
And finally (and perhaps most importantly; so please make sure you read the old reddit thread linked in the post), go here to read about another fandom who went through this exact same thing a few years ago:
http://theowldetective.tumblr.com/post/156116682626/reddit-thread-from-the-sixseasonsandamovie
If people still refuse to let go of Netflix and focus their energies elsewhere after reading through all this, thenâŚfine. I get it. Itâs news people didnât want. Nobody likes that. But PLEASE make sure you are putting at least as much energy into Hulu and Amazon as you are into a 99.999999% dead end. đ And if you see someone targeting Netflix only, please encourage them to make sure theyâre targeting Hulu and Amazon just as hard.
I realize that not everybody has Hulu or Amazon, but we (most of us, anyway) arenât trying to save the show on Netflix or nowhere else, we are trying to save the show, period. The issue of some folks not having paid access was never going to magically disappear entirely just because the show got rescued, even if Netflix HAD swooped in.
I do not mean to crush anyoneâs hopes entirely (thatâs the absolute last thing I want!), we just need to hope with one foot on the ground is all. So please, even if you just plain cannot bring yourself to let go of Netflix even after reading all the info above, please donât sleep on Hulu and Amazon. đ
P.S. I absolutely respect peopleâs worries about being taken in by fake news, especially in our current climate. Itâs commendable to be vigilant about that in this day and age! đđ But Linda Ge and TheWrap simply are NOT publishing âfake newsâ here. IF and I mean IF it turns out Ms. Geâs reporting was inaccurate, she will 100% issue a retractionâbelieve that Iâll be one of the first to share it, btwâand thatâs the difference between her and the scummy people who spread fake news.
Thanks for your time!
THIS.
I think @theowldetective and others are doing us all a HUGE favor by helping us to focus on what will actually help the SaveGMW campaign as well as saving us time, effort and stamps. BUT. If you are dead set on including Netflix, no one can stop you. Just PLEASE make sure to also direct your efforts towards Hulu and Amazon Studios. I personally LOVE that our fandom is so full of fire, persistence and even a whole lotta stubbornness. Letâs just make sure weâre not pooling all of those resources to JUST Netflix, ESPECIALLY when itâs been made abundantly clear that we have more of a shot with Hulu and/or other platforms. Thanks for all that youâre doing, GMW fandom!!! đđâď¸
Disclaimer: I donât condone being aggressive with Disney but I somewhat guiltily admit that I am a tad amused by the fandomâs creative and biting responses to their attempts at âputting out the fire with gasoline.â
Hey, you make the childrens cry and they WILL make you pay.
BUT. Be nice. Try the assertive yet respectful approach instead.

For whatever itâs worth, this is what I think Willâs tweet was most likely about. A deleted scene. Not a pick-up. đ

@theowldetective, always on the case! ;)
The only thing we can really gather from Will's tweets is that there's still hope! Send those planes to Hulu and Amazon (and FINE, Netflix if your little heart is still set and if you absolutely must) as well as contacting them. Go to http://savegirlmeetsworld.com to keep the good fight alive. As long as we keep getting encouragement let's keep going!
