living under a rock is so fun i love watching a movie that’s been famous for decades and being like wow this is so good.. did you guys know about this

Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. The societal need for women and girls to be constantly perceived as attractive is what fuels a fair amount of her torment in the book, but that person isn’t even allowed to exist on the screen. We cannot empathize with her; it isn’t allowed. It’s fascinating to me.

I'm not a misanthrope, I genuinely find humans a charming and interesting lot for the most part. But I am starting to hate academics. What's the word for that?

I feel like most academics think they are one thousand percent more interesting than they are. And then even the more interesting ones are usually trying to climb the career and social ladder. Try having a conversation with a group of academics, especially the ones from "top tier" institutions. They are all so elitist and anti-fun in their thinking? I have never been more bored than in the midst of academics together. It's a pattern. You'd think they'd be able to converse well but it's actually mind numbing conversation. Even when they are joking it's somehow really immature but not in a fun/silly way. It's like they don't notice their actual surroundings just themselves
