like what do you mean a silent brother quit the brotherhood? he just…stopped being one? you can do that? and then he ran off and married a warlock? and they had a baby?? a warlock had a baby? with a silent brother?

i just started reading SOBH and emma says she has jem as her “living family history” but that julian “doesn’t have anyone like that.” i know that there were blackthorns that went to america in the 1800s (?) but they left the clave, and i double-checked and andrew blackthorn was from london. it only makes sense that lucie and jesse are their ancestors.

jace found out he’s related to tessa in tftsa, but 1. he asked her and 2. she had just told everybody her name used to be tessa herondale so it was gonna get back to him somehow. i get why he knows.

but why dont the blackthorns? tessa’s still trying to keep it all a secret as much as she can? i know normally she doesn’t have relationships with her descendants as she’s immortal and they’re mortal, etc. but i think with this generation, that ship has already sailed? why still keep it secret?

i’ll give the benefit of the doubt and say mostly it just got forgotten because of the need to focus on the thousand other things that have happened in this series because like i said it’s a lot

but also sometimes i think we need to think a little bit more because i’ve seen some people get mad at characters for doing things they didnt even do and situations that didn’t even occur. and maybe if we just questioned why those things don’t make sense for a bit we would’ve figured out it’s because it didn’t even happen like that
